<br /> 219 <br /> RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL <br /> PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 19 <br /> EROSION CONTROL <br /> 19-01 GENERAL: <br /> a. All work under this specification is subject to the <br /> applicable Items of the Texas State Department of Highways and <br /> Public Transportation "Standard Specifications for Construction of <br /> Highways, Streets, and Bridges," 1982. <br /> 19-02 SCOPE: <br /> a. This specification shall consist of the necessary temporary <br /> and permanent erosion and water pollution control which will <br /> protect the San Marcos River temporarily from silt, sedimentation, <br /> debris, or water pollution generated by the construction effort and <br /> permanently from silt and sedimentation caused by unvegetated <br /> "finished" work areas. The work covered by this specification <br /> shall cover the following: <br /> (1) temporary erosion control-which will be required <br /> during the construction effort required to be in place before the <br /> construction effort begins, and in place, operational and <br /> maintained until the permanent erosion control is considered to be <br /> established. <br /> (2) permanent erosion control- consisting of <br /> establishment of ground cover over all of the abraded areas <br /> disturbed in any manner by the construction effort. This shall <br /> include Contractor's equipment and material storage areas, <br /> Contractor's equipment roads, etc. The Contractor is hereby <br /> requested to keep his/her work area as small as possible. <br /> Disturbance of any existing vegetation for the purpose of equipment <br /> and material storage, construction roads, etc. shall not be allowed <br /> without the approval of the Engineer. <br /> (3) The San Marcos River is a protected watershed with <br /> endangered species of fish and plant material. The Contractor <br /> shall be responsible for the protection of the entire construction <br /> area (under his/her direct or indirect responsibility) such that <br /> there is NO silt, sedimentation, or water pollution (of any kind) <br /> qenerated by the construction effort. <br /> THE CONTRACTOR IS HEREBY PLACED ON NOTICE THAT THE POLLUTION OF THE <br /> SAN MARCOS RIVER BY SILT, SEDIJŒN'l'ATION, OR ANY O'l'HER CON'l'RACTOR <br /> GENERATED POLLUTION CAN CAUSE THE EN'l'IRE CONSTRUCTION EPFORT TO BE <br /> SHUT DOWN. <br /> 19-1 <br />
