This specification covers the planting of trees. <br /> 20-02 APPLICABLE PUBLICATIONS: <br /> The following publications of the issues listed below, but <br /> referred to thereafter by basic designation only, form a part of <br /> this specification to the extent indicated by the references <br /> thereto: <br /> ( 1) American Joint CODIIIÛttee on Horticultural <br /> Nomenclature Standard: <br /> Standardized Plant Names, 1942 Edition. <br /> (2) American Association of Nurserymen, Inc., Standard: <br /> USA Standard for Nursery Stock (January 1969) ( USAS <br /> Z60.1-1969). <br /> 20-03 CERTIFICATES OF INSPECTION: <br /> All shipments or orders of plant material shall be properly <br /> inspected at the nursery or at the growing site by the authorized <br /> Federal and State authorities. All necessary inspection <br /> certificates shall accompany the invoice for each shipment or order <br /> of stock, as may be required by law for the necessary <br /> transportation, and such certificates shall be filed with the <br /> Engineer prior to acceptance of the materials. <br /> 20-04 MA'rERIALS OTHER THAN PLANTS: <br /> a. Burlap shall be made of jute and shall weigh not less than <br /> 7.2 ounces per square yard. Substitute cloth shall possess an equal <br /> strength and resistance to tearing. <br /> b. A commercial root stimulant shall be required. <br /> c. Materials for staking: <br /> (1) Stakes for supporting trees shall be square, <br /> straight, sound, roughsawn, free from knots, and not less than <br /> 20-1 <br />
