<br /> 92 <br /> RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL <br /> PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 2 <br /> EARTHWORK <br /> 2-07 COMPACTION OF SUBGRADE FOR SURFACED AREAS: <br /> a. All compaction shall be to a maximum dry density not less <br /> than ninety-five percent (95%> of the maximum density, at optimum <br /> moisture, obtained in the laboratory. <br /> b. The moisture-density relation of the material shall be <br /> determined in the laboratory in accordance with Test Method <br /> Tex-113E or AASHTO Standard Proctor as required by Engineer. <br /> c. Any unsuitable material, as determined by the Engineer, in <br /> the subgrade that cannot be compacted by surface rolling shall be <br /> scarified and the material mixed and reshaped by blading, sprinkled <br /> if necessary, and then rolled and compacted to the density <br /> specified. <br /> d. Material unsuitable for compaction shall be removed and <br /> disposed of by the Contractor. The term, "unsuitable", as it <br /> applies here, means those materials that are judged unsuitable by <br /> the Engineer. <br /> e. Excessive loss of moisture in completed fills shall be <br /> prevented by sprinkling or by covering. <br /> 2-08 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT: <br /> a. EXCAVATION shall be measured for payment in its original <br /> position and the volume computed in cubic yards by the method of <br /> average cross-sectional end areas, the Contractor shall schedule <br /> his operations in such a manner as to facilitate the measurement. <br /> No separate measurement shall be made for disposal and for <br /> construction of 818bankment with the excavated materials, but will <br /> be considered subsidiary work pertaining to the various contract <br /> items. No separate measurement shall be made for compaction <br /> (density control), addition of water, but all such items shall be <br /> considered subsidiary work to the item bid. <br /> b. Subgrade work for roadway and parking construction shall <br /> NOT be measured for separate payment but will be considered <br /> subsidiary work to the EXCAVATION bid item. <br /> c. Embankment shall NOT be measured for separate payment but <br /> will be considered subsidiary to the EXCAVATION bid item. <br /> 2-3 <br />
