<br /> 100 <br /> RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL <br /> PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 4 <br /> CONCRETE WORK - GENERAL <br /> least amount of shrinkage¡ therefore, tamped grout and grout <br /> produced by prolonged or delayed mixing shall be used where <br /> possible. <br /> b. Dry Pack Mortar: <br /> (1) Dry Pack Mortar shall be made with appropriate cement <br /> and aggregate thoroughly mixed and then wetted by light sprinkling <br /> while mixing continues. Only enough water shall be added so that <br /> when the mixture is compressed in the hand a cohesive mass will be <br /> produced. All dry pack mortar must be driven firmly into place with <br /> hammer and wooden blocks. <br /> c. Special Grout: <br /> (1) Any grout used for grouting pipes into an opening in <br /> a wall of a structure shall consist of 1 part Portland Cement, 1 <br /> part sand and 1/4 part Embeco by weight or shall be as specified <br /> under these Specification 14, Filtration/Detention System. <br /> d. Masonry Mortar shall be as specified under these <br /> Specification 11, Restroom Buildings. <br /> e. Mixing: <br /> ( 1) The materials and water shall be mixed in a mixer for <br /> not less than 3 minutes or for small quantities it shall be <br /> thoroughly mixed by hand in a manner approved by the Engineer. <br /> f. Preparation and Finish: <br /> . (1) All areas to receive grout shall be free from dust <br /> and debris and all loose particles. Any grease, oil, or organic <br /> matter which may be on the surface shall be removed, and if removal <br /> proves impossible such contaminated concrete shall be chipped away <br /> until a clean concrete surface is exposed. <br /> 4-06 SURFACE FINISH FOR CONCRETE: <br /> a. All concrete structures shall be finished as required <br /> herein and directed by Engineer. Honeycombing and other concrete <br /> imperfections will not be accepted and shall be repaired in <br /> accordance with Texas SDHPT Standard Specifications Item 420, <br /> paragraph 420.24.
