The grounding system shall be <br /> installed in a workmanlike manner and shall be inconspicuous. <br /> 9-05 WIRING: <br /> a. Branch circuit conductors shall be no smaller than No. 12 <br /> AWG, except that home runs or branch circuits whose length from <br /> panel to center of load exceeds 100 feet shall be no smaller than <br /> No. 10 AHG. Conductors shall be continuous from outlet to outlet, <br /> and no splices shall be made except wi thin outlet or junction <br /> boxes. Junction boxes may be utilized where required. Wire <br /> connectors of insulating materials or solderless pressure <br /> connectors, properly taped, shall be utilized for all splices in <br /> wire where possible. Soldered joints insulated with tape shall be <br /> kept to a minimum. Rubber and friction tape shall conform to the <br /> requirements of Federal Specifications HH-I-S53 and HH-I-510 <br /> respectively. <br /> (1) Conduit Systems: Conduit or tubing systems shall be <br /> installed in accordance with the applicable provisions of the <br /> National Electrical Code. Rigid steel conduit shall be zinc-coated <br /> and shall conform to the requirements of Federal Specification <br /> WW-C-S81. Conduit fittings shall conform to the requirements of <br /> Federal Specification W-F-406. Conduit or tubing shall be of 1/2 <br /> inch minimum size. Conduits installed below grade and in direct <br /> contact with the earth shall be given one coat of approved <br /> asphaltum paint, sufficiently in advance of burial to permit <br /> thorough drying of the paint. Electrical tubing shall conform to <br /> Federal Specification WW-C-S63, and shall utilize compression-type <br /> threadless fittings throughout. Fittings shall be of the type <br /> approved for the conditions encountered. When installed in <br /> concrete, fittings ahall be concrete-tight. Fittings installed in <br /> wet locations or exposed to the weather shall be raintight. Rigid <br /> polyvinylchloride conduit and fittings may be used for all <br /> underground installation. <br /> (a) Installation: OUtside diameters of conduits concealed <br /> in concrete floor or roof slabs shall not be greater than half the <br /> thickness of the slab. Conduits shall have a minimum clear cover <br /> of 3/4 inch on both top and bottom. Exposed runs of conduit or <br /> tubing shall have supports spaced not more than 5 feet apart and <br /> shall be installed with runs parallel or perpendicular to walls, <br /> structural members, or intersections of vertical planes and <br /> 9-3 <br />
