<br /> 136 <br /> RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL <br /> PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 9 <br /> ELECTRICAL WORK - GENERAL <br /> conforming to the requirements of Federal Specification W-J-800 of <br /> a class to satisfy the conditions for each outlet shall be used <br /> unless otherwise specifically noted or required. <br /> Boxes shall be installed in a rigid and satisfactory manner, with <br /> fasteners appropriate to the type of construction, as follows: to <br /> wood with wood screws¡ to hollow masonry units with toggle bolts¡ <br /> to solid masonry wall and concrete with expansion bolts or threaded <br /> studs driven in with a powder charge¡ to metal surfaces with <br /> machine screws, threaded studs driven in with a powder charge, or <br /> threaded studs welded to the metal. Sheet steel fixture outlet <br /> boxes on ceilings shall be not less than 4-inch octagonal. Switch <br /> and receptacle boxes containing not more than one device and no <br /> splices or tape may be of the "handy" or "universal" type. Use of <br /> sectional type gang boxes will not be permitted. Case steel or <br /> alloy boxes of a type to suit the device to be installed shall be <br /> used in damp or hazardous locations. Cast-metal fittings shall <br /> conform to the requirements of Federal Specification W-C-586. <br /> (1) Junction and Pull Boxes: Boxes shall be constructed <br /> of code-gage galvanized sheet metal, of not less than the minimum <br /> size recommended by the National Electrical Code. Boxes shall be <br /> furnished with screw-fastened covers. Where several feeders pass <br /> through a common box, they shall be tagged to indicate clearly <br /> their electrical characteristics, circuit number, and panel <br /> designation. <br /> (2) Weatherproof Convenience Outlets: Weatherproof <br /> outlets shall be installed where indicated on the drawings. Each <br /> weatherproof outlet shall consist of a single convenience outlet <br /> in a flush box with a gasketed, weatherproof, cadmium plated, metal <br /> cover plate and screw cap. The cap shall be permanently attached <br /> to the cover plate by a short length of chain. <br /> (3) Device Plates: A device plate shall be provided for <br /> each outlet to suit the device installed. All plates on unfinished <br /> walls or on fittings shall be of zinc-coated sheet metal having <br /> rounded or beveled edges. All plates on finished walls shall be of <br /> brown phenolic compound, having a polished stippled or polish <br /> ribbed finish with plain polished borders. Screws shall be of metal <br /> with countersunk heads, with finish to match the finish of the <br /> plate. Device plates shall be of the one-piece type, of suitable <br /> shape for the devices to be covered. The use of sectional device <br /> plates will not be permitted. <br /> 9-6 <br />
