<br />(16) MULTIPLE-OCCUPANCY: One or more adjacent premises containing
<br /> two or more occupancies each having main entrances directly
<br /> from the exterior of a common building or complex of
<br /> buildings, and utilizing common facilities for vehicular
<br /> access, parking, landscaping, etc.
<br />(17) NONCONFORMING SIGN: Any sign lawfully existing on the
<br /> effective date of this Chapter which does not conform to all
<br /> the standards and regulations of this Chapter.
<br />(l8) OCCUPANCY: A dwelling unit, nonresidential building, or
<br /> portion of a building, which is designed and intended for a
<br /> single tenant or use.
<br />(19) OFF-PREMISE SIGN: A sign which does not refer exclusively
<br /> to the name, location, products, persons, services, or
<br /> activities of or on the premises where it is located, except
<br /> for permitted multiple-occupancy circumstances.
<br />(20) ON-PREMISE SIGN: Any sign which relates exclusively to the
<br /> name, location, products, persons, services, or activities of
<br /> or on the premises where it is located.
<br />( 21) OWNER: The person who owns a sign, or an authorized
<br /> representative of that person.
<br />(22) PERMANENT SIGN: A sign designed to be anchored to the
<br /> ground, a building, or other structure for the duration of
<br /> the use of the premises.
<br />(23) PORTABLE SIGN: A transportable sign of durable construction
<br /> including a trailer used for advertising or promotional
<br /> purposes, which is not designed to be permanently affixed to
<br /> a building, other structure, or the ground.
<br />(24) PREMISES: A parcel or tract of land, or one or more platted
<br /> lots under the same ownership and use, together with the
<br /> buildings and structures located thereon.
<br />(25) RESTRUCTURE: The replacement of structural members of a sign
<br /> for the purpose of extending the life of a sign.
<br />(26) SIGHT-TRIANGLE: A triangle-shaped area adjacent to the
<br /> intersection of two streets, formed by two lines measured a
<br /> distance of 25 feet along both property lines of the street
<br /> right-of-way from their intersection and a third line
<br /> connecting the ends of the two lines; or a triangle-shaped
<br /> area adjacent to the intersection of a driveway and a street,
<br /> formed by two lines measured a distance of 15 feet along the
<br /> right-of-way line and edge 0 f the driveway from their point
<br /> of intersection and a third line connecting the ends of the
<br /> two lines.
<br />(27) SIGN: Any object, device, or display situated outdoors, or
<br /> indoors affixed to a window or located within 12 inches from
<br /> a window facing the exterior, which is used to inform or give
<br /> direction, or to advertise or identify a person,
<br /> organization, business, product, service, event, or location
<br /> by any means, including words, letters, numbers, symbols,
<br /> figures, motion, and illumination.
<br />(28) STRUCTURAL ALTERATION: Any relocation, replacement, or
<br /> enlargement of the structure of a sign, or change in the
<br /> overall height, width, size, or orientation of a sign.
<br /> Routine maintenance of nonstructural parts including
<br /> removable faces, copy, and electrical fixtures shall not be
<br /> considered structural alterations.
<br />(29) TEMPORARY SIGN: A sign which is displayed for a limited
<br /> period of time only, and which is typically associated with
<br /> an activity or event of limited duration.
