<br />30 <br /> <br />STATE OF TEXAS <br /> <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT <br /> <br />COUNTY OF HAYS <br /> <br />Whereas, the Greater San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and the <br />Greater San Marcos Economic Development Council have consolidated their <br />respective economic programs; and, <br /> <br />Whereas, the Greater San Marcos Chamber of Commerce has accepted <br />responsibility for the administration of said Economic Development <br />Program; and, <br /> <br />Whereas, the City of San Marcos desires to enter into a contract <br />with the Greater San Marcos Economic Development Council and the San <br />Marcos Chamber of Commerce in order to promote orderly and responsible <br />economic development for the San Marcos geographic area; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />This agreement is made by and between the City of San Marcos, Texas <br />( "CITY" ), The Greater San Marcos Economic Development Council ("EDC"), <br />and the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce ("Chamber"). <br /> <br />WITNESSETH: <br />I. <br /> <br />A. EDC and Chamber shall develop an economic development program to <br />enhance the economy of life in San Marcos through the generation of <br />productive employment opportunities and the expansion of the economic <br />base by: <br /> <br />4. <br />5. <br />6. <br /> <br />1. <br />2. <br /> <br />Involving the San Marcos Community; <br />Evaluating and researching the ability of San Marcos to <br />attract development; <br />Strengthening the ability of San Marcos and the region to <br />attract development through the encouragement of new <br />development and appropriate participation with regional <br />organizations; <br />Creating a positive attitude for development; <br />Encouraging and assisting existing businesses to expand; <br />Identifying and stimulating prospects interested in locating <br />in the San Marcos area; <br />Identifying and stimulating prospects interested in locating <br />in the Austin-San Marcos-San Antonio Corridor, Central Texas <br />Region, and State; <br />Developing a local contact committee to convey current <br />information to prospects in an efficient, timely and <br />cost-effective manner; and, <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />9. <br /> <br />Updating the EDC fact book in a timely manner. <br /> <br />B. EDC shall not refuse any of the services described in paragragh <br />l(A), above, to any resident of the City of San Marcos because of <br />inability to pay, age, sex, disability, race, nationality, or religion. <br />
