<br /> SAN MARCOS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br /> ADULT EDUCATION TUTOR <br /> .JOB DESCR I PT I ON <br /> JOB TITLE: Volunteer Tutor <br /> PURPOSE: To help adults learn to read, write, <br /> compute, or speak English as a second <br /> language through a program of <br /> individual tutoring. <br /> RESPONSIBILITIES: To meet regularly with students to <br /> tutor them and review their work, To <br /> give students encouragement and help <br /> them develop a positive attitude by <br /> showing acceptance of them, To <br /> diagnose the educational needs of their <br /> students and develop goals and lesson <br /> plans that are appropriate for each <br /> student. To report tutoring statistics <br /> to the Lifelong Learning Project <br /> Coordinator on a monthly basis, <br /> QUALIFICATIONS: Must be dependable and committed to the <br /> program, Must have a positive attitude <br /> toward people and learning. Hust be <br /> friendly and patient, Must have a high <br /> school diploma. Spanish speaking <br /> ability is preferred, <br /> TRAINING: All volunteers must attend a twelve <br /> hour tutor training workshop. <br /> REPORTS TO: Lifelong Learning Project Coordinator <br /> HINIHUH COlvH1ITHENT: Volunteers must be willing to commit at <br /> least two hours per week for at least <br /> six months, <br />
