<br /> SAN MARCOS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br /> ADULT EDUCATION TEACHER <br /> .JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> JOB TITLE: Adult Education Teacher <br /> PURPOSE: To help adults learn to read, write, <br /> compute, or speak English as a second <br /> language by providing a walk-in <br /> tutoring service at the public library. <br /> RESPONSIBILITIES: To be at the library during regularly <br /> scheduled hours in order to provide <br /> walk-in tutoring for adults, To <br /> oversee the work of numerous volunteers <br /> who will assist in providing the <br /> tutol'ing. To provide assistance and <br /> encouragement to both tutors and <br /> students, To diagnose the educational <br /> needs of students and develop goals and <br /> lesson plans that are appropriate for <br /> each student, To compile statistics on <br /> the walk-in tutoring program and to <br /> keep student records, <br /> QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a teaching certificate and <br /> experience in bilingual education, <br /> Ability to speak Spanish is strongly <br /> preferr-=d, <br /> REPORTS TO: Lifelong Learning Proj~ct Coordinator <br /> HOURS: Twenty hours per week, to be arranged, <br /> SALARY: $10,00 per hour, no benefits. <br />
