City of San Marcos
Texas Capital Fund Application
Project Summary
Page 5
4. To what extent does the infrastructure oroiect diversify the local economic base?
The major economic base of the area is public (Southwest Texas State Unitversity)
with some commercial and light industrial firms operating in San Marcos. The location of
CTEC in San Marcos points to the movement to diversify the type of industry being
pursued in the area. The infrastructure being proposed will enable the City of San Marcos
to offer CTEC water services in a timely manner.
CTEC will be operated as an independent company manufacturing the latest in
advanced technology aircraft engine components. CTEC will make an initial investment of
$20 million in the San Marcos plant including facilities, land and equipment. By 1995,
CTEC anticipates that their annual payroll will exceed $5 million.
5. Intrastate Relocation Restriction

The intrastate relocation restriction would not be applicable to the infrastructure
project. CTEC has no other plants in the State of Texas.
