<br /> PROJECT DESCRIPTION Attachment A <br /> I. AUTHORIZATION: <br /> This contract implements Task B, Sub-Task 3 of 90-01-01 of <br /> the FY90 Highway Safety Plan. <br /> II. PROBLEM STATEMENT: <br /> All Texas jurisdictions charged with the responsibility of <br /> traffic law enforcement have a common problem in trying to <br /> identify where to place their limited resources (personnel <br /> and equipment) in order to have the greatest impact on the <br /> motor vehicle accidents in their jurisdiction. Data they <br /> receive is sometimes three or four months old before they <br /> have an opportunity to evaluate their needs. TRASER is <br /> needed to allow for up-to-the-minute input in order to do <br /> the best planning possible. <br /> III. OBJECTIVES: <br /> A. To reduce accidents by 5% within the jurisdiction by <br /> the end of the contract period, <br /> B. To build an automated traffic records system to record <br /> 100% of all accident reports and 100% of all police <br /> citations issued by 9/30/90. <br /> Nothing in this agreement shall be interpreted as a <br /> requirement, formal or informal, that a police officer issue <br /> a specified or predetermined number of citations in <br /> pursuance of the Contractor1s obligation hereunder. <br /> IV. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CONTRACTOR: <br /> A. Carry out the objectives of this contract by <br /> implementing the Action Plan in this attachment. <br /> B. Submit all 'newly developed public information and <br /> education material for written approval from the <br /> pepartment prior to final production. Reproduction of <br /> National Highway Traffic ßafety Administration or other <br /> governmental endorsed material is permissible without <br /> Department approval. <br /> C. An Administrative Evaluation summarizing all activities <br /> and accomplishments will be submitted on Department <br /> approved forms, no later than 45 days after the <br /> contract ending date. <br /> Page 1 of 5 <br />
