46.

Paul B. Meyhew
Mayor Pro-Tern, City Council Place 5

Z'd like to thank the mayor and council for allowing me the opportunity to
speak, l hove been asked to comment on what I think has been most
rewarding end my most significant contribution to the city during my term in
office.

@afore answering that question, I must begin by thanking several special
people who have been instrumental in my efforts to contribute and serve 5an
/~arcos.

First, I would like to thank the citizens of Son Marcos. Three years ago
they entrusted me with the privilege of serving as Council Member Piece 5.
:It has been my pleasure to represent the city as their voice not only at the
local level, but also at the state and national level as well.

Second, I would like to thank all of those I've had the pleasure to work with
while on council. City staff has been a valuable resource to me and I cannot
say enough about the professionalism with which they carry out their jobs

Z've also had the privilege to serve with some very fine colleagues; Nine
other council members, two mayors and two city managers. Z have to say
that ]: have learned something from each and every one and for that Z am
truly grateful.

I have saved my final thanks to the ones who ore most important in my life
and consequently hove 9ivan the most of their time in order for me to serve.
My wife, Marilee, who has not once complained about all of the meetings,
both regular and special, that hove sometimes gone until 2:30 am., as well as
all of the times when I had to miss programs or family time. Even when I
was considering running for reelection and having prayed end thought about
it for quite some time, it was my wife, Ntarilee, who encouraged me to follow
my heart and she would support me with whatever Z chose. I also need to
thank my children; William, Mariel, and Even. Needless to soy, I am looking
forward to spending more and more quality time with my family and our new
baby who will arrive in ~Tuly.
