To answer the question, my most rewarding and most significant contribution
to the city during my term is difficult to put in a nutshell. ~: would have to
say that my most significant contribution has been the way :[ have
approached the position. Z have always brought my convictions and values to
bear in all that :E have done. :E have always accepted the responsibility that
has come with each action and :E have kept an open mind to all issues before
making my decision. That being said, :E believe that there are several areas
that :E have made significant contributions to the city both individually and
collectively as a council member.

:E hove been proud to serve on three different councils, who hove all dealt
with many issues concerning; Quality of life, transportation, improving
relations with SWT, fiscal responsibility, increasing the tax base, economic
development. :E would like to highlight several items within these issues that
:E think have significant over the past three years.

Maintaining adequate parks and acquiring greenspace for a growing
community were o priority from my campaign and, in 2001, :E was on the
council that added 493 acres of greenspace through donation and purchase
to the existing 222 acres. We also continued funding the street overlay
program of 18.62 miles at $350,000 per year. Much has been said recently
about improving relations with SWT, but 3: feel that the relations between
the two entities have been greatly improved throughout the past three
years and are currently very good. One of the most important things that :E
have directly influenced was the parking swap between the city and SWT. :E
invited the appropriate University administrators as well as city officials.
Together we came to a mutually beneficial plan that council unanimously
approved. We now have access to downtown parking and the university will
have much needed parking in a new lot that will be constructed at their ball
fields. :E also have been able to help facilitate communication with the
elected student government officials at 5WT. :Et was great to recognize the
efforts that they put forth during their recent Bobcat I~uild program. We
also, as a council in 2002, agreed to swap city right of way on Comanche in
order to receive the critical right of way on 5essoms and Aquorena Springs.
Through this acquisition there will be two dedicated left turn lanes with a
dedicated right turn too. This should help ease congestion at this critical
intersection.
