132 ORDINANCE 1983-81 AN ORDINANCE OF 'rHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 13 1/2-2 AND 13 1/2-3 OF CHAPTER 13 1/2 ENTITLED 11 HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING" OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY AND ADDING A PARAGRAPH (b) TO SAID SECTION 13 1/2-3 OF SAID CHAPTER 13 1/2 OF SAID CODE AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DA'rE. WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Heating and Air Conditioning Board of the City of San Marcos, Texas, that the installation and/or use of duct board containing or constructed of fibrous glass material in air conditioning, heating and air plenum and return ducts be prohibited in all hospitals, medical clinics, nursing homes and restaurants; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 13 1/2-2 of Chapter 13 1/2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 13 1/2-2. National codes adopted. The rules and regulations of the Uniform Mechanical Code, 1973 edition, now and as hereafter amended, and the rules and regulations of the Southern Standard Mechanical Code, 1973 edition, now and as hereafter amended, are hereby adopted by the City of San Marcos, and shall be the rules and regulations observed in all work, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of heating and air conditioning equipment, apparatus, and fixtures, except as otherwise specifically provided in this chapter; and the same are hereby incorporated into this chapter for all intents and purposes. SECTION 2. That Section 13 1/2-3 of Chapter 13 1/2 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended to read as follows: (a) Section 603.1 of the Southern Standard Mechanical Code, 1973 edition, is hereby amended to read as follows: 603.1 "General. " Condensation from all cooling coils or evaporators shall be carried full size from drip pan outlet and piped to a wet trap storm sewer drain or an approved French drain on units larger than three ( 3) tons nominal capacity. Drains from units three (3) tons and smaller capacity may terminate in gutter or roof drain, on a concrete pad or other location subject to approval of the mechanical official. Condensate drains roof top units may spill on roof providing it does not drain into street or alley, or other area, of sufficient amount to be a menace.
