<br /> 132 <br /> ORDINANCE 1983-81 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF 'rHE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 13 <br /> 1/2-2 AND 13 1/2-3 OF CHAPTER 13 1/2 ENTITLED <br /> 11 HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING" OF THE CODE OF <br /> ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY AND ADDING A PARAGRAPH <br /> (b) TO SAID SECTION 13 1/2-3 OF SAID CHAPTER <br /> 13 1/2 OF SAID CODE AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br /> DA'rE. <br /> WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Heating and Air <br /> Conditioning Board of the City of San Marcos, Texas, that the <br /> installation and/or use of duct board containing or <br /> constructed of fibrous glass material in air conditioning, <br /> heating and air plenum and return ducts be prohibited in all <br /> hospitals, medical clinics, nursing homes and restaurants; <br /> now, therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> SECTION 1. That Section 13 1/2-2 of Chapter 13 1/2 of <br /> the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, be <br /> and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Sec. 13 1/2-2. National codes adopted. <br /> The rules and regulations of the Uniform <br /> Mechanical Code, 1973 edition, now and as <br /> hereafter amended, and the rules and regulations <br /> of the Southern Standard Mechanical Code, 1973 <br /> edition, now and as hereafter amended, are hereby <br /> adopted by the City of San Marcos, and shall be <br /> the rules and regulations observed in all work, <br /> construction, installation, operation, and <br /> maintenance of heating and air conditioning <br /> equipment, apparatus, and fixtures, except as <br /> otherwise specifically provided in this chapter; <br /> and the same are hereby incorporated into this <br /> chapter for all intents and purposes. <br /> SECTION 2. That Section 13 1/2-3 of Chapter 13 1/2 of <br /> the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, be, <br /> and the same is hereby, amended to read as follows: <br /> (a) Section 603.1 of the Southern Standard <br /> Mechanical Code, 1973 edition, is hereby <br /> amended to read as follows: <br /> 603.1 "General. " Condensation from all <br /> cooling coils or evaporators shall be <br /> carried full size from drip pan outlet <br /> and piped to a wet trap storm sewer <br /> drain or an approved French drain on <br /> units larger than three ( 3) tons <br /> nominal capacity. Drains from units <br /> three (3) tons and smaller capacity may <br /> terminate in gutter or roof drain, on a <br /> concrete pad or other location subject <br /> to approval of the mechanical official. <br /> Condensate drains roof top units <br /> may spill on roof providing it does not <br /> drain into street or alley, or other <br /> area, of sufficient amount to be a <br /> menace. <br />
