ORDINANCE NO. 2015-44 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING SECTIONS 2.131 THROUGH 2.132 OF <br />THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE TO CHANGE THE SENIOR CITIZENS <br />ADVISORY BOARD TO A CITY COUNCIL APPOINTED BOARD AND <br />TO MODIFY THE QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP ON THE <br />BOARD; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ANY CONFLICTING <br />PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />SECTION 1. Sections 2.131 through 2.132 of the San Marcos City Code are hereby <br />amended to read as follows (Added text is indicated by underlining. Deleted text is indicated by <br />stfilffeughs -): <br />Sec. 2.131. Established; appointment; terms. <br />(a) There is established the senior citizen advisory board. The board is <br />composed of seven members appointed by the city council. <br />All members of the board must be residents of the city. <br />Members will serve <br />staggered terms of two years, with four members being appointed in even - numbered <br />years, and three members being appointed in odd - numbered years. <br />(b) The executive director of Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas ls; <br />Caldwell and BlEmee , or the executive director's designee, is an ex officio <br />nonvoting members of the board. <br />(c) Members of the beffd are appointed by the dir-eeter- of par-ks a <br />The board shall elect a chair and vice -chair from among its members at its first meeting <br />each year after the appointment of members. <br />Sec. 2.132. Composition; qualifications and appointment of members. <br />(a) The senior citizen advisory board may adopt rules and regulations to govern its <br />actions, subject to the general laws of the state and of city ordinances and resolutions. <br />(b) The board acts in an advisory capacity to the <br />council, the city manager and other boards and commissions and on matters <br />involving senior citizens in the San Marcos community. In this respect, the paf6 and feer-eatien <br />dir-eeter -city council, the city manager and other city boards and commissions and the -eity manager <br />are encouraged to consult with the board, and the board will make recommendations, regarding the <br />following: <br />(1) The availability of city programs and services to senior citizens in the city; <br />(2) The provision of existing and future facilities for senior citizens; <br />
