(1) Earl <br />Moseley of Abundant Life Christian Church stated they are a serious <br />contender for the purchase of the First Christian Church. They have <br />dealt above board with the City throughout the process. They want <br />to secure the bid and are excited about the prospect of being able <br />to reach out to this community. They have been patient, and this is <br />not a political issue. Their purchase would be for the good of San <br />Marcos, and this is an issue of conscience and value. They are a <br />young church, having been in existence for only 2 1/2 years. (2) <br />Doris Colgin stated she is the President of the Greater San Marcos <br />Senior Citizens, and it is their goal to öwn a center. City <br />Councils in other cities have assisted seniors in reaching this <br />goal. She made reference.to Abundant Life Christian Church's <br />insufficient bid security of $1,000.00, and stated the seniors <br />should have had a center years ago. (3) Gwen Smith expressed <br />concern Abundant Life Christian Church's bid security did not meet <br />the required 5% amount. Their bid should have been rejected. She <br />stated special advantages were given to the bidder, and the sale <br />should be closed. (4) Camille Phillips serves as Secretary of <br />Greater San Marcos Senior Citizens and raised concern of the sale of <br />the First Christian Church minimum bid amount of $200,000.00. She <br />stated two requirements to bid were to fill out the form and submit <br />5% of the purchase price. She stated only one requirement was met <br />making it a nonconforming bid. She discussed this matter with the <br />Attorney General's Office and was advised this would be a <br />substantive change and would be illegal. Mr. H. Y. Price gave the <br />building to the City foryouthn and seniors. ... She st:;ated.other <br />citizens may see this sale as not fulfilling Mr. Price's wishes and <br />not want to make donations to the City. (5) Marie Jager stated she <br />is a member of Greater San Marcos Senior Citizens group and Grains <br />of Sand Creative Arts Association. She stated the matter of this <br />Church has been a long, hard battle. She has prayed a lot over the <br />matter and reiterated Mr. Price gave the building for use by youth <br />and/or senior citizens. (6) Andre Armour stated he does not wish to <br />speak. (7) Maria Gonzales signed up to speak but was not present. <br />
