(1) Eileen
Trainor of SWT provided a petition of 192 signatures of citizens of
San Marcos who support recycling. She has talked with hundreds who
are for recycling, and stated no one else will provide the service
Kyle Hahn has given. She stated nothing is more important than
recycling. (2) Rebecca Bell-Metereau of SWT stated she worked for
two years on the Solid Waste Committee of the City, which
recommended curbside recycling and regretted not being able to
provide recycling for every entity in San Marcos who wanted to
recycle. She would like to see recycling be provided locally and
not by a world organization that often violates regulations and
simply pays fines for their violations. She supports Green Guy
recycling. She also stated some SWT students have been involved in
a national program called ISM to address issues of diversity and
announced a town meeting Wednesday, November 6 at the Public Library
Reading Room from 6:30-8:00 and a national video conference by
satellite on November 13. It will feature some clips from SWT
campus and will be viewed nationally. (3) Troy Swift supports Green
Guy and stated they potentially provide service to all businesses
and citizens in San Marcos by having the drop-off center. It
reduces waste disposal of businesses. Recycling demonstrates our
City's commitment to responsible growth to prospective businesses
and tourism. We advertise "San Marcos, Naturally?" and need to
stand behind that. (4) Charles Reubush stated the citizens of San
Marcos have a concern and a commitment for conservation, and
recycling is needed by all citizens. The citizens have demonstrated
conservation through the toilet rebate program. We cannot overlook
Kyle Hahn takes in many items such as tires, batteries and
refrigerators, and we should continue to support him. (5) Julie
Tuason of SWT stated she has 35 students in her environmental
management class who volunteer time to Green Guy Recycling as a
component of her course requirement involving experience in
learning. Solid waste is a major problem in America and effort is
being made to take responsibility to find solutions. Responsibility
begins at home and we need this facility to complement curbside
recycling. She urges the City to support Green Guy Recycling to
provide the outlet to recycle. (6) John Hohn is a resident of San
Marcos and business owner downtown and supports recycling and Kyle
Hahn in his efforts. He stated Green Guy is efficiently run and
hopes the Council will support this operation. (7) Ross Johnson
stated he is a SWT student and provided 200 names supporting Kyle
Hahn. He has worked for Kyle Hahn for pay and voluntarily and
stated they take in more wastes than curbside recycling does and
wants the City to support a local operation. He stated Mr. Hahn is
dedicated. (8) Ollie Maier endorsed Kyle Hahn and said he is
