Call To Order With a quorum present, the Special Meeting of the San Marcos City Council was called to order by Mayor Hughson at 4:07 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019 in the City Council Chambers, 630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas 78666. :• IIIMF Council Member Derrick arrived after roll call at 4:15 p.m. Present: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Prewitt, Council Member Saul Gonzales, Council Member Melissa Derrick, Mayor Jane Hughson, Council Member Ed Mihalkanin, Council Member Joca Marquez and Council Member Mark Rockeymoore 1. Hold discussion regarding demolition of historic structures; consider approval Ordinance 2019-19, on emergency, with only one reading, establishing a waiting period for issuance of demolition permits for historic structures. MAIN MOTION: a motion was made by Council Member Rockeymoore, seconded by Council Member Gonzales, to approve Ordinance 2019-19, on first and final reading. MOTION TO AMEND: a motion was made by Mayor Hughson, seconded by Council Member Mihalkanin, to amend Section 12 by inserting "This ordinance expires 120 days from adoption." The section will now read: SECTION 12. The importance of this ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative public necessity, and the provisions of the Charter requiring that ordinances be presented at two separate meetings are waived, and this ordinance will take effect upon adoption with only one reading. This ordinance expires 120 days from adoption. The motion carried by the following vote: For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, Council Member Gonzales, Council Member Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Mihalkanin, Council Member Marquez and Council Member Rockeymoore Against: 0 City of San Marcos Page 1
