Hopkins - Special Meeting <br />I. Call To Order <br />With a quorum present, the Special Meeting of the San Marcos City Council <br />was called to order by Mayor Hughson at 4:07 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019 in <br />the City Council Chambers, 630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas 78666. <br />:• IIIMF <br />Council Member Derrick arrived after roll call at 4:15 p.m. <br />Present: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Prewitt, Council Member Saul Gonzales, Council Member <br />Melissa Derrick, Mayor Jane Hughson, Council Member Ed Mihalkanin, Council <br />Member Joca Marquez and Council Member Mark Rockeymoore <br />1. Hold discussion regarding demolition of historic structures; consider approval Ordinance <br />2019-19, on emergency, with only one reading, establishing a waiting period for issuance <br />of demolition permits for historic structures. <br />MAIN MOTION: a motion was made by Council Member Rockeymoore, <br />seconded by Council Member Gonzales, to approve Ordinance 2019-19, on <br />first and final reading. <br />MOTION TO AMEND: a motion was made by Mayor Hughson, seconded by <br />Council Member Mihalkanin, to amend Section 12 by inserting "This <br />ordinance expires 120 days from adoption." <br />The section will now read: <br />SECTION 12. The importance of this ordinance creates an emergency and an <br />imperative public necessity, and the provisions of the Charter requiring that <br />ordinances be presented at two separate meetings are waived, and this <br />ordinance will take effect upon adoption with only one reading. This ordinance <br />expires 120 days from adoption. <br />The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, Council Member Gonzales, Council Member Derrick, Mayor <br />Hughson, Council Member Mihalkanin, Council Member Marquez and Council <br />Member Rockeymoore <br />Against: 0 <br />City of San Marcos Page 1 <br />
