The City contracts annually with the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to <br />conduct and administer a) a minority economic development program which has as its mission <br />serving as a connection to local, national and international Hispanic markets to stimulate minority <br />economic development in the City of San Marcos, and b) a tourism promotional progran1 which has <br />as its mission to serve as a connection to local, national, and international Hispanic markets to <br />promote the City of San Marcos as a prime tourist destination. <br /> <br />2. The City Council wishes to establish a Minority Economic Development and Tourism <br />Development Advisory Board to provide advice to the City Council and oversight to the San Marcos <br />Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on budget, performance and personnel matters related to these <br />contracts. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 2, Article 3 of the City Code is amended by adding anew Division 3, <br />Minority Economic Development and Tourism Development Advisory Board, to read as follows: <br /> <br />DIVISION 3. MINORITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND TOURISM <br />DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY BOARD <br /> <br />Sec. 2.111. Created; composition; terms; officers. <br /> <br />( a) The minority economic development and tourism development advisory board is created, <br />composed of seven voting members appointed by the city council, and four non-voting ex- <br />officio members: The city manager, the president of Texas State University-San Marcos or a <br />designee, the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent or a <br />designee, and the President of the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />(b) The city council will endeavor to appoint persons who are representative of the following <br />groups, organizations or interests as voting members of the board: <br /> <br />1 <br />
