'A map showi ng seven tracts adjo i n i ng the city <br />I imits' was exhibited. Hugh Snell ings came before the Counci I to <br />prot.estthe annexat i on of Tract #7 on Wi mbep I ey H i'ghway. <br />Mr. Snellings said his Pcroperty was ranch land, and he s<iw no <br />advantageih being incorporated into the city I imits. Marvin Wi lis, <br />executop of the Wi II s Es,tate a Iso protested th'e annexat i on of <br />Tract #7. He said their property was ranch land, and they had al I <br />the fac i lit i es they needed and had no des ire to be taken i.nto the! <br />C i,ty. He said the fami I y ,ha'd been offered a good pr'i ceby developers, <br />but they were not interested in development; that it would remain <br />ranch I and. The matter was: discussed at 1 ength by lan:d:owners and <br />Counc i I men. Sh.i r I ey Tutt I e, a res i den.t of Hunter Road, came before <br />the Counc i I to protest the annexat ion of 1 and on Pupgato:ry Cpeek. <br />He sa i d he a I so' <spoke for Jose Luc i o. Jo'hn Pfeffer spoke as an <br />interested ci t i zen and nota landowner, statJ ng that "ranching <br />i s. a risky bus i ness" ,and he though,t it was u'nfair for ranchmen <br />to have to pay city taxes on range land. The MayoI' declared the <br />publ ic hear,ing closed, and read the caption of an ordinance <br />annex i ng the 632 acre's. C:ounc i I man Y.arbrough moved that the ord i nance <br />be tabled until the next meeting. Mr. DeLa Rosa seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. Councilman Yapbpollgh sai.J he felt the <br />matter needed fupthep study~ and thought that he felt ~heCouncil <br />was sympathetic to the renchmen. Mr. Wi I Is expressed appreciation <br />for the Council's attitude, and stated he was not opposed to the <br />City's growth. Mr. Snell ings offeped to give the Council a guided <br />tour of the property under discussion. <br />
