Marshal I <br /> <br />meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Revepend Leo Delgado, Pastor, St. John's Church, gave the Invocation. <br /> <br />The Minutes of June 26 were approved as presented on motion of <br />Counci Iman DeLa Rosa and second 'of Counci Iman Etheredge. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a Public Hea~ing to consider appt:'oval .of an ordinance <br />approv i ng the ElMo I i no Urban Renewa I Project, lEX. R-140 (c). He <br />introduced Mr. Jim Brown, Execut i ve 0 i rector of the Urban Renewa I <br />Agency, who exp lai ned the necess i4-y of the. Ord i nance. Mr. Brown <br />presented ~ 64 page, 7 exhibit binder describing theEI Molino project <br />to the City Sedretary to be filed in her official records. He <br />explained that the sole purpose of the Ordinance was to adopt the <br />Urban Renewal plan; that app~oval by the Counci l.t6 actually proceed <br />with the EI Molino project would come at a later date. The Council <br />and Mr. Brown discussed the ways in which the City's one-fourth <br />share of funds for this project could be provided. In approximately <br />one year the City would have to guarant~eits share in order- t6 <br />remain eligible for the total Federal grant of $6~6 millon. Those <br />visitors speaking to urge the Council to continue with the project <br />were Mr. Jame's'Smith, Mrs. Clara Wi II iams, Mrs. Delores Crittenden <br />and Mrs. Jessie L. M~rriweather. Mr. Bob Ba~ton, jr., requested <br />the Council consider separating the Dunbar area and the downtown <br />busi.nessin t.erms of priority, thus insuring that 1!hose persons <br />residing in the fl~od'plaih would be given the opporfunity to relocate <br />their homes. There was Council agreement that the Dunbar area should <br />have priority. The Mayor declared the Publ ic Hearing cl.osed at,9:10 p.m. <br />
