Buckner, <br />David Ybarra, Jim T.Brownf David Pool, <br />Bob Thomas, David Basye, Jerri Martin, <br />Lanny Cravy <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Rev. Paul Powell, Pastor of First Baptist Church, gave the <br />Invocation. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Minutes of November 23 and November 30, 1970 were approved <br />as presented, on motion of Councilman Zavesky and seco~d of <br />Councilman Flores. <br /> <br />Mrs. Adah May Obenhausf Librarian, gave a report on the year's <br />activities at the Public Library. She compared the current <br />programs with the 1966 figures, the first year of operation <br />for the ne~ Library. The Mayor ~ommended Mrs. Obenhaus for the <br />report. <br /> <br />Mr. David Ybarra, Director of Public Housing since September 1, <br />gave a report of the 185 units in operation. He said there was a <br />possibilit~ that they would advertise for~ids~_on construction <br />of .the. 100 units under development,- by January 1,1971. <br />The. Mayor thanked Mr. Ybarra for the goodjoh he has done since <br />becoming Executive Director of Public Housing. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Jim T. Brown, Executive Director of Urban Renewal, gave a <br />progres$reporton.the River Project and the application for <br />finding of "El Molino" Project. He exhibited 'wash drawings of <br />the "Historical Plaza" that will adjoin the Cocke House. He said <br />he was going to Houston to discuss with railroad officials a <br />permit to put a drainage system through the railroad right-of-way. <br />This easement could also be used for off-street parking for the <br />Historical Plaza. Another matter to be discussed was the grade <br />crossings over the railroad tracks. Mr. Brown offered .to discuss <br />the City's plans fora.gradecrossing at the same time. <br />Dr. Craddock moved. that -Mr. Brown be authorized to discuss the <br />City's plans for grade crossings with ,the'railroad officials <br />while he was conferring about Urban Renewal matters. Mr. King <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />
