Walker <br /> <br />Also. present: <br /> <br />Jack Major, Wallace Barber, Harry Jewett, <br />Leo Dussard , Foster Nelson, Walter Ohnheisser, <br />James J, Aussant, Bob Barton, Eddy Etheredge, <br />Elias M, Cadena, Willy De La Rosa, Jerry Flores, <br />Rodgers Storey <br /> <br />The M*yor called the meeting ~o order at J:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the regular meeting of March 8 were approved <br />as presented, on motion of Mr, Zavesky, and second of Mr. King, <br />The Minutes of a special meeting held March 17 were approved <br />as presented, on motion of Mr, Zavesky and second of Mr. Flores. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor asked City Attorney Walker to report on the research <br />he had done on procedures for creating a special ~istrict for <br />flood control in Hays County. Mr, Walker explained that one <br />method was to go through the Legislature, but since this session <br />was n~ar its end, this route would not be practical, from a stand- <br />point of time, The other method was to circulate a petition <br />requesting Hays County Commissioners Court to ~all an election <br />to establish a flood control district. Details of this method <br />were discussed, Mr. Walker explai~~rlg the statutory provisions <br />for this procedure, <br />Councilman Yarbrough moved that the Council go on record as <br />being determined to procf'ed, in cooperation with Hays County <br />Commissioners Court,in th~ development of a floo~ control <br />district wi thin Hays County, for the. Upper San Marcos River <br />Watershed; that field. notes comprising metes and bounds des- <br />cription of the area be prepared under supervision of the City <br />Engineer~nd Acting CitY Manager, to the end that the City Attorney <br />may prepare a petition to the Hays County Commissionf'rs Court for <br />a flood control district within those boundarie~, as provided by <br />T~xasStatutes, the petition to be distributed for the required <br />signatures. . <br />Mr. King seconded the motion and on roll call, the fpl10wing <br />vote ~as. recorded~ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Flores, King, Smith, Yarbrough, Zavesky <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Zavesky moved approval on second reading of an ordinance <br />annexing six acres owned by Luis Gil, jr. Mr. Flores seconded <br />the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />
