159 ((HI CALLED MEETING HELD ON APRIL 10. 1958 On the lOth day of April, 1958, the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos, Texas, met in a special session at 2:00 o'clock P. M., in their regular meeting place with the following present: I Mayor C. M. Allen Alderman S. R. Beecroft Alderman W. M. Davis Alderman B. D. Hil1burn Alderman Herman Korff Alderman H. W. Steakley Also present: B. R. Fuller, City Manager Carlyn Tatch, City Secretary Mr. Caesar Damon Mr. Lucius Parish Mr. Walter Buckner Mr. Frank Hill The meeting was called to order by Mayor Allen, stating that the purpose "of the llJeeting was tt) conduct a public hearing on the Proposed Budget for"'the~'~fisc'af 'lear' 1958-59. Mayor Allen requested the City Manager to discuss in detail the various items of the Budget. The membersof the Council examined the entire budget and requested information on items of income and expense. The citizens attending the Hearing were asked if there were any items that interested them and about which they wished information. I The Mayor asked if the Council wished to adopt the Budget as presented. Alderman Hillburn said that he felt that he was expressing the feeling of the entire Council that "a job had been well done" by the City Manager and he moved that the Budget be amended to increase the City Manager's salary $1,000.00 per year (Account #101.1), effective April I, 1958. This motion was seconded by Alderman Korff and passed unanimously on voice vote. Alderman Beecroft introduced a motion that the Budget for the fiscql year 1958-59 be adopted as amended. This motion was seconded by Alderman Hillburn and, upon roll call, the ayes and nayes were as follows: AYES: Aldermen Beecroft Davis Hillburn Korff Steakley NAYES: None Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Budget for 1958-59 adopted. The Budget, as adopted, was predicated on a tax rate of TWO DOLLARS ($2.00) per Hundred Dollars Valuation of real and personal property. Alderman Beecroft introduced an Ordinance entitled I AN CRDINANCE LEVYIl'l3 TAXES FOR THE USE AND SUPPORT OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AND PROVIDE A SINKING FUND FOR THE RETIREMENT OF THE BONDED DEBT OF SAID CITY. I The Ordinance was read in full and Alderman Beecroft made a motiqn that the Ordinance be adopted. This motion was seconded by Alderman Korff and, upon roll call the ayes and nayes were as follows: AYES: Alderman Beecroft Davis Hillburn Korff Steakley NAYES: None ; Mayor Allen declared the Ordinance adopted and the tax rate for the year 1958 set at $2.00.
