<br />159 <br />((HI <br /> <br />CALLED MEETING HELD ON APRIL 10. 1958 <br /> <br />On the lOth day of April, 1958, the Governing Body of the <br />City of San Marcos, Texas, met in a special session at 2:00 o'clock P. M., <br />in their regular meeting place with the following present: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor C. M. Allen <br />Alderman S. R. Beecroft <br />Alderman W. M. Davis <br />Alderman B. D. Hil1burn <br />Alderman Herman Korff <br />Alderman H. W. Steakley <br /> <br />Also present: <br /> <br />B. R. Fuller, City Manager <br />Carlyn Tatch, City Secretary <br />Mr. Caesar Damon <br />Mr. Lucius Parish <br />Mr. Walter Buckner <br />Mr. Frank Hill <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Allen, stating that <br />the purpose "of the llJeeting was tt) conduct a public hearing on the Proposed <br />Budget for"'the~'~fisc'af 'lear' 1958-59. <br /> <br />Mayor Allen requested the City Manager to discuss in detail <br />the various items of the Budget. The membersof the Council examined the <br />entire budget and requested information on items of income and expense. <br />The citizens attending the Hearing were asked if there were any items that <br />interested them and about which they wished information. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor asked if the Council wished to adopt the Budget as <br />presented. Alderman Hillburn said that he felt that he was expressing the <br />feeling of the entire Council that "a job had been well done" by the City <br />Manager and he moved that the Budget be amended to increase the City Manager's <br />salary $1,000.00 per year (Account #101.1), effective April I, 1958. This <br />motion was seconded by Alderman Korff and passed unanimously on voice vote. <br /> <br />Alderman Beecroft introduced a motion that the Budget for the <br />fiscql year 1958-59 be adopted as amended. This motion was seconded by <br />Alderman Hillburn and, upon roll call, the ayes and nayes were as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Aldermen Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hillburn <br />Korff <br />Steakley <br /> <br />NAYES: None <br /> <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Budget for 1958-59 adopted. <br /> <br />The Budget, as adopted, was predicated on a tax rate of TWO <br />DOLLARS ($2.00) per Hundred Dollars Valuation of real and personal property. <br />Alderman Beecroft introduced an Ordinance entitled I <br /> <br />AN CRDINANCE LEVYIl'l3 TAXES FOR THE USE AND SUPPORT OF <br />THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AND PROVIDE A SINKING FUND FOR THE RETIREMENT <br />OF THE BONDED DEBT OF SAID CITY. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Ordinance was read in full and Alderman Beecroft made a <br />motiqn that the Ordinance be adopted. This motion was seconded by Alderman <br />Korff and, upon roll call the ayes and nayes were as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Alderman Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hillburn <br />Korff <br />Steakley <br /> <br />NAYES: None <br /> <br />; Mayor Allen declared the Ordinance adopted and the tax rate for <br />the year 1958 set at $2.00. <br />
