<br />-~ <br /> <br />REGULAR MEEHl'(; HEW ON JANUARY 20. 1959 <br /> <br />2~1 <br /> <br />On the 20th day of January, 1959, the Governing Body of the City of San <br />Marcos, Texas, met in a regular meeting at 2100 o'clock P.M., Mayor C. M. <br />Allen presiding; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Present; Mayor C. M. Allen <br />Aldermen S. R. Beecroft <br />W. M. Davis <br />B. D. Hillburn <br />H. W. Steakley <br />City Manager B. R. Fuller <br />City Secretary earlyn Tatch <br />Mrs. Joann HJyes <br /> <br />Mrs. Roland Manske, AAIJ{i <br />Mr. Bill Veidt, KCNY <br />Mr. Dudley Dobie, Austin American <br />Mr. Ted Breihan, Electrical Contractor <br />Mr. Paul J. Rogers <br /> <br />Absent; Alderman H. W. Korff <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. The regular session of <br />January 13th had been postponed by action of the Council on December 9, 1958, <br />until this date. The minutes of the meetings of December 9th, December 16th, <br />and December 22nd were approved as recorded. <br /> <br />The regular order of business was dispensed with and permission granted <br />Mr. Ted Breihan for an audience with the Council regarding a personal matter. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Paul Rogers extended an invitation to the Mayor, Council Members and <br />the City Manager to attend the South Texas Chamber of Commerce meeting to be <br />held at Seguin, Texas, at 11,00 o'clock A.M., on January 21, 1959. <br /> <br />As the first item on the agenda, the City Manager informed the Council <br />that Mr. A. E. Gary had contacted him stating he was not interested in accept- <br />ing the City's offer of $125.00 for the purchase of Lot 9, Block 4, Dan McKie <br />1st Addition, SUbject to payment of an additional $275.00 upon presentation of <br />a satisfactory title. City Manager FUller requested the Council to reopen the <br />negotiations with Mr. Gary for purchase of the lot. Following a discussion, <br />motion was made by Alderman Hillburn, seconded by Alderman Beecroft, to refer <br />this matter to the City Manager and the City Attorney for further study and <br />recommendation. This was unanimously approved by the Council. <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller stated that estimates had been obtained for the <br />erection of a fence around the Public Works Building in the City Park and the <br />area on Fredericksburg Street; the estimat~d cost of both projects, installed, <br />was $1,250.00. Motion was made by Alderman Steakley, seconded by Alderman <br />Davis, to authorize the City Manager to proceed with the advertising for bids <br />on fence requirements which received the Council's unanimous approval. <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Council that members of the Wally Byam <br />Caravan had donated $200.00 to the City in payment for the use of the park <br />facilities and the sewer charges on the eighty (SO) odd trailers for the period <br />January 10 through January 15th. Mayor Allen reported favorable comment from <br />Mr. Bob Van Gundy and other San Marcos businessmen. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Tom Sumner, owner of a lot at the corner of North and Vista Streets, <br />had submitted a request that the City define the utility easement it has for <br />crossing his lot. At present the force main going to the reservoir crosses this <br />lot. The easement is not defined and allows the City to cross at any point. <br />Mayor Allen suggested that the Council refer this matter to the City Attorney <br />for a study of the present easement. This was the unanimous ded6ion of the <br />Council. <br /> <br />It was reported that Mrs. M. C. Smith, county Welfare Worker, had contacted <br />one of the City Councilmen for assistance for one of her clients (1012 West <br /> <br />~ <br />
