<br />ADJOURNED REGULAR SESSION HELD ON APRIL 25, 1961 <br /> <br />On the 25th day of April 1961 at 2:00 o'clock P.M. the <br />Governing Body of the City of San Marcos met in adjourned regular <br />session at the City Hall, Mayor C. M. Allen presiding. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Present: Mayor C. M. Allen <br />Aldermen: B. D. Hil1burn <br />Herman Korff <br />Ruben Ruiz <br />Kenneth Sutton <br />J. E. Younger, Jr. <br />city Manager B. R. Fuller <br />city Secretary Judy B. Brackett <br /> <br />Guests. <br /> <br />Bill Veidt of KCNY, Tom Buckner of <br />San Marcos Record, Frank Brown, <br />'Chamber Manager, Jim Banister, <br />W. R. Boucher, R. B. Norman, Jose <br />Rodriguez, Dick Henderson, Houston <br />Marney. <br /> <br />First item on the agenda was a discussion on the 1961-62 <br />Budget. After a lengthy discussion the matter was tabled until an <br />executive meeting could be called. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Council received a recommendation from the Hays County <br />Bar Association, which had been requested to investigate and recommend <br />a corporation court recorder. The Bar Association recommended that <br />the Mr. E. O. Wiley, Jr. be contacted as recorder, and reported they <br />had contacted the County Authorities who had given permission for the <br />use of the large district Court room on Saturday morning to hold <br />Corporation Court. Alderman Hillburn introduced an ordinance and <br />moved its adoption. The Ordinance is captioned: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING THE RECORDER OF THE <br />CORPORATION COURT; SETTING THE TERM OF OFFICE; <br />AND, FIXING THE COMPENSATION <br /> <br />The ordinance was read in full and the motion of adoption was seconded <br />by Alderman Korff. Upon roll call the ayes and nayes were: <br /> <br />AYES: Allen, Hillburn, Korff, Ruiz, Sutton and Younger <br /> <br />NAYES: None <br /> <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the ordinance passed, approved and <br />adopted. <br /> <br />The unanimous decision of the Council was to pay the Election <br />Officials with the county bearing one-half of the expense for the <br />April 5th dual election. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Airport Committee has requested that some paving be done <br />at the airport. After some discussion 6f the advantages to San Marcos <br />by having better landing facilities, Alderman Korff made the motion <br />that if the airport will furnish the materials the City will furnish <br />labor and machinery to complete the necessary work. Alderman Hillburn <br />seconded, and the vote was as follows. <br /> <br />AYES: Hillburn, Korff, Sutton <br /> <br />NAYES: Ruiz, Younger <br /> <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the motion carried. <br />
