"1 Jo1 REGULAR MEETING 'OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MAlicos, TEXAS, HELD ON THE BTH DAY OF JANUARY, A.D. 1963 Present: Mayor Pro-Tempore J.E. Younger, jr. I Aldermen: 'Wm. L. The Mayor Pro-Tempore called the' meeting to order ,at 7 o'clock p.m. The Invocation was given by the Rev\ Mack Morris. The Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Alderman Swift asked for a report on the traffic survey being prepared by the Police Department. The City Manager said it was nearing completion and would be ready in a week's time. The City Manager reported he had had favorable response to the City's request to the State Highway Department for a traffic survey on Loop 82 at the Aquarena entrance. t. I Alderman Swift moved that the seven property owners on Schulle Drive who have requested street improvements be given an extension of time to Feb. 15, 1963, in which to pay the City the agreed $700 needed for purchase of right-of-way. Alderman Stokes seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The City Manager reported bids had been let on erection of the Cemetery fence, with completion due about January 9th. A report by the City'Manager showed that as of Dec. 31, 1962, $152,386.76 net had been collected in City taxes, or 64.2% of the gross. Collection of the gross billed was $156,594.56, or 66% of taxes billed. At the same date last year, 65% of the gross had been COllected, and 62. 2% of the net. This year's figures show an increase in money collected of $12,500. The City Manager reported that the second notice on taxes due had already been sent; no additional personnel is needed to handle collections. Referring to the Monthly Report of the Police Department, Alderman Swift asked why fine collections were less in December than the previous month. The City Manager said he would try to ascertain the reason. Alderman Swift asked the City Manager for an estimate on the cost and feasibility of running a water line to the City Airport. He requested the City Manager to have the information for the Feb. 12 regular meeting. I The City Manager gave a report on the progress of utility relocation and reimbursement on I-35. Alderman Swift moved that the City Council sponsor and plan an appropriate ceremony on Feb. 12, 1963 to honor Judge Decker. The following statement preceded the motion: "Mr. Mayor, fellow Council Members and fellow citizens, "As you know, Mr. C.M. Decker has just completed 22 years' service as Hays County Judge. mw]
