Morris, Mr. Carl Christman, <br />Mr. Tom Buckner, Mrs. Jerri Veldt, Mr. Coy Deviney, <br />Mr. Wray Weddell, jr. <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro-Tempore called the' meeting to order ,at 7 o'clock p.m. <br />The Invocation was given by the Rev\ Mack Morris. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. <br /> <br />Alderman Swift asked for a report on the traffic survey being prepared <br />by the Police Department. The City Manager said it was nearing completion <br />and would be ready in a week's time. The City Manager reported he had had <br />favorable response to the City's request to the State Highway Department <br />for a traffic survey on Loop 82 at the Aquarena entrance. <br /> <br />t. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Swift moved that the seven property owners on Schulle Drive who <br />have requested street improvements be given an extension of time to <br />Feb. 15, 1963, in which to pay the City the agreed $700 needed for purchase <br />of right-of-way. Alderman Stokes seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported bids had been let on erection of the Cemetery fence, <br />with completion due about January 9th. <br /> <br />A report by the City'Manager showed that as of Dec. 31, 1962, $152,386.76 <br />net had been collected in City taxes, or 64.2% of the gross. Collection <br />of the gross billed was $156,594.56, or 66% of taxes billed. At the same <br />date last year, 65% of the gross had been COllected, and 62. 2% of the net. <br />This year's figures show an increase in money collected of $12,500. <br />The City Manager reported that the second notice on taxes due had already <br />been sent; no additional personnel is needed to handle collections. <br /> <br />Referring to the Monthly Report of the Police Department, Alderman Swift <br />asked why fine collections were less in December than the previous month. <br />The City Manager said he would try to ascertain the reason. <br /> <br />Alderman Swift asked the City Manager for an estimate on the cost and <br />feasibility of running a water line to the City Airport. He requested <br />the City Manager to have the information for the Feb. 12 regular meeting. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager gave a report on the progress of utility relocation and <br />reimbursement on I-35. <br /> <br />Alderman Swift moved that the City Council sponsor and plan an appropriate <br />ceremony on Feb. 12, 1963 to honor Judge Decker. The following statement <br />preceded the motion: <br /> <br />"Mr. Mayor, fellow Council Members and fellow citizens, <br /> <br />"As you know, Mr. C.M. Decker has just completed 22 years' service as <br />Hays County Judge. <br /> <br />mw] <br />
