Banister, Tom Buckner, <br />Bruce Smith, Mary Etheridge, Carolyn <br />Chandler, Jerri Veidt and others <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />The Rev. Ronald Lul~r, Chaplain for Student Work, <br />St. John's Church, gave the Invocation. <br /> <br />Minutes of the regu I ar meet i ng of November 8, 1965, were <br />approved as presented, on motion of Alderman Damon and <br />second of Alderman Tuttle. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />J.T. Banister, Executive Director of the Urban Renewal <br />Agency (Local Public Agency), gave a report on the status <br />of the Chautauqua Hi I I Project, see copy attached. <br /> <br />Mr. Banister stated that of the 18 properties yet to be <br />acquired for the Project, 15 would be acquired through con- <br />demnation proceedings. He announced the resignation of <br />Tom Oliver, the Agency's attorney, and stated this would <br />delay condemnation proceedings. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor announced that First Baptist Church had agreed <br />to al low the present Library Bui Iding to be moved to their <br />parking lot whi Ie the new Library Bui Iding is under construct- <br />ion. Condition of the agreement WaS that the Ci~y would re- <br />move the bui Iding when .it is no longer in use, and leave the <br />site clean and level. The Mayor explained that E.J. Payne <br />had agreed to move the bui Iding, in return for possession of <br />the building when it is no longer in use, and its removal <br />from the parking lot. After explanation of its contents, <br />the Counci I, by common consent, authorized the Mayor to sign <br />a written agreement with First Baptist Church in reference <br />to the above. Alderman Pool moved that Jack Major, the City's <br />Bui Iding Inspector, be named "Clerk of the Works" for a dai Iy <br />inspection of the Library Building under construction.
