<br />1973-10-R <br /> <br />. ':"ff <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, 48 of 50 states have reduced the penalties for <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />possession of marijuana for personal use to a misdemeanor; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the consequences of a felony conviction for possession <br /> <br />of marijuana for personal use can cause grave damage to an <br /> <br />individual's life: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br /> <br />City of San Marcos, Texas, that this Council, while not endorsing <br /> <br />the use of marijuana, recommend the Texas legislature <br /> <br />reduce the penalties for possession of marijuana for personal <br /> <br />use to a misdemeanor; and <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Council recommend a comprehensive <br /> <br />drug education program within the state and conscientious, <br /> <br />equitable enforcement of Texas drug laws. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this 9th day of April, 1973. <br /> <br />~t~ t?A~~~clyy <br /> <br />Eddy A; Etheredge ' <br />Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />{J7(jK~W$+1l ill <br /> <br />Dorothy .
