<br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL~OF THE CITY OF
<br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLAR-
<br />ING RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE
<br />PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR AND CONSIDERING AMEND-
<br />MENTS TO THE CHARTER OF SAID CITY HELD ON AUGUST
<br />8, 1981; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, ordered
<br />a special election for the purpose of electing a mayor and considering
<br />amendments to the Charter of said city be held on August 8, 1981, by
<br />ordinance duly enacted on June 22, 1981, and amended on July 6, 1981; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly published in the San
<br />Marcos Daily Record on July 19, 1981, and July 26, 1981; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, copies of said notice were duly posted at each city election
<br />precinct polling place prior to said election; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, said election was duly and legally held on the 8th day of
<br />August, 1981, in conformity with the election laws of the State of Texas,
<br />and the results of said election have been certified and returned by the
<br />proper judges and clerks thereof; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, with the
<br />following members present: Berry R. James, Mayor Pro-Tem; and Karl Brown,
<br />Robert L. Cavazos, John A. Kreczmer, Elida A. Mendez, and Tess Norris
<br />Council Members; has today considered the returns of said special election
<br />held on the 8th day of August, 1981; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears to the Council, and the Council so finds, that
<br />the said election was in all respects lawfully held; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears to the Council and the Council so finds, that the
<br />tabulation of the results of said election is correct; now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS:
<br />
<br /> SECTION 1. That the tabulation of votes cast in the special election
<br />for the purpose of electing a mayor and considering amendments to the Charter
<br />of said City held on August 8, 1981, made and certified to by the City
<br />Secretary of the City of San Marcos, a copy of which is attached hereto
<br />and made a part hereof, be, and the same is hereby, adopted as the official
<br />tabulation of the votes cast at said election and that said tabulation be
<br />filed and recorded in the official records of the City of San Marcos as
<br />the official canvass of said election.

<br /> SECTION 2. That the said official canvass of the returns of said
<br />election reflects the following:
