C'l Ocu <br />~ >(f) <br />a... 1-- <br />l!.l -0 <br />C.f) 0>, <br /><C - <br /> i:3 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2004- 6e} <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE <br />CITY CODE TO CHANGE THE APPOINTMENT <br />SCHEDULE FOR CITY BOARDS AND <br />COMMISSIONS; INCLUDING TRANSITION <br />PROVISIONS FOR CURRENT BOARD AND <br />COMMISSION MEMBERS; AND INCLUDING <br />PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. The City Clerk has recommended that city board and commission members be <br />appointed and begin terms at a uniform time each year. <br /> <br />2. The City Council discussed this issue at the September 13, 2004 City Council <br />meeting, and the City Council wishes to implement this recommendation. <br /> <br />3. The City Council wishes to adjust the terms of current board and commission <br />members to take effect simultaneously with the change in the appointment process. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 2.072 of the City Code is added to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2.072. Appointments <br /> <br />(a) Appointments to all city boards and commISSIOns whose membership is <br />wholly appointed by the city council shall be in November of each year with <br />terms to commence January 1 of the following year unless otherwise provided in <br />the ordinance, resolution or other law governing a board or commission. <br /> <br />(b) Appointments to fill vacancies may be made at any time, and will be for the <br />unexpired term. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Section 2.091 of the City Code is amended as follows (underlining <br />indicates added text; overstrike indicates deleted text): <br /> <br />Sec. 2.091. Membership; eligibility for appointment; term of office; <br />training qualification requirements. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(a) The planning and zoning commission consists of nine members. <br />
