C'l Ocu ~ >(f) a... 1-- l!.l -0 C.f) 0>, <C - i:3 ORDINANCE NO. 2004- 6e} AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE CITY CODE TO CHANGE THE APPOINTMENT SCHEDULE FOR CITY BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS; INCLUDING TRANSITION PROVISIONS FOR CURRENT BOARD AND COMMISSION MEMBERS; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. RECITALS: 1. The City Clerk has recommended that city board and commission members be appointed and begin terms at a uniform time each year. 2. The City Council discussed this issue at the September 13, 2004 City Council meeting, and the City Council wishes to implement this recommendation. 3. The City Council wishes to adjust the terms of current board and commission members to take effect simultaneously with the change in the appointment process. I BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 2.072 of the City Code is added to read as follows: Sec. 2.072. Appointments (a) Appointments to all city boards and commISSIOns whose membership is wholly appointed by the city council shall be in November of each year with terms to commence January 1 of the following year unless otherwise provided in the ordinance, resolution or other law governing a board or commission. (b) Appointments to fill vacancies may be made at any time, and will be for the unexpired term. SECTION 2. Section 2.091 of the City Code is amended as follows (underlining indicates added text; overstrike indicates deleted text): Sec. 2.091. Membership; eligibility for appointment; term of office; training qualification requirements. I (a) The planning and zoning commission consists of nine members.
