<br /> 0 <br />~ 0 <br />~ ~ ~e <br />~ <br />~ a::lU <br />C'J W~ <br />W.g => ...Jc: <br />UlU <br />I~ M ~~ <br />0- -0 <br />LLJ U>, <br />~ U') - <br />C3 <br /> <br />80, <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2004- 80 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTIONS 14.006 AND <br />14.008 OF THE CITY CODE TO EXEMPT HABITAT FOR <br />HUMANITY, SAN MARCOS, TEXAS CHAPTER, FROM <br />CONSTRUCTION PERMIT FEES; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br />PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. Habitat for Humanity, San Marcos, Texas Chapter (HFHSM) is the local affiliate of <br />Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), a nonprofit housing ministry. <br /> <br />2. HFHI and HFHSM seek to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, <br />and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. <br /> <br />3. HFHI and HFHSM invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses <br />together in partnership with families in need. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />4. HFHI has built more than 175,000 houses around the world, providing safe, decent, <br />affordable shelter for more than 900,000 people, and HFHSM has built several new houses in San <br />Marcos. <br /> <br />5. HFHSM has previously requested and obtained City Council approval for waivers of the <br />City's construction permit fees for its construction projects in the City on a project-specific and <br />annual basis. <br /> <br />6. The City Council wishes to amend the City Code to waive construction permit fees for <br />HFHSM on an ongoing basis. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Section 14.006 of the City Code is amended as follows (underlining indicates <br />added text; ~ indicates deleted text): <br /> <br />Sec. 14.006. Fees. <br /> <br />(a) All fees in this chapter are established by city council. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(b) Construction permit fees for proj ects having a construction value of $1000.00 or less <br />shall be waived for each local taxing unit, as defined in the state Tax Code, that is authorized <br />to impose and is imposing ad valorem taxes on property. <br /> <br />(c) Construction permit fees for projects funded in whole with Community Development <br />
