RESOLUTION 1999 - 124 R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE CITY AND SOUTHWEST TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY FOR THE COORDINATION OF POLICE SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE ENFORCEMENT OF CITY ORDINANCES REGARDING ANIMALS, PUBLIC FACILITIES, PARKS, TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES BY UNIVERSITY PEACE OFFICERS; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, CHIEF OF POLICE AND CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. RECITALS: 1. The City of San Marcos entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for the coordination of police services with Southwest Texas State University (SWT) on February 22, 1998. The memorandum did not reference the enforcement of city ordinances by SWT peace officers. 2. The University would like to enforce city ordinances related to animal control, public facilities, parks, traffic and vehicles within their jurisdiction. The revised memorandum authorizes SWT peace officers to enforce these ordinances. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: P ART 1. The terms and conditions of the attached Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation and coordination of police services between the City and the Southwest Texas State University are approved. PART 2. The Mayor, Chief of Police and City Manager, are authorized to execute the attached memorandum on behalf of the City. PART 3. its passage.
