<br /> 102 <br /> RESOLUTION 1990- l1R R <br /> <br /> A RESOUJTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN M..2ffiCOS, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING AN "ADOPT A <br /> STREET" PROGRAM FOR THE CONTROL OF LITTER ON <br /> PUBLIC STREETS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER <br /> TO EXECUTE PARTICIPATION AGREEMENTS WITH <br /> PRIVATE BUSINESSES AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS; <br /> AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the State Department of Highways and Public <br /> Transportation has initiated a successful program for the control <br /> of roadside litter entitled the "Adopt-A-Highway" Program; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the success of this program is based upon commitments <br /> by private businesses and civic organizations to keep designated <br /> sections of highways litter-free; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos has encouraged all of its <br /> residents to naintain community cleanliness to enhance the posi ti ve <br /> image of the city; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PÞJ.~T 1. That the City of San Marcos hereby establishes an <br /> "Adopt-A-Street" program for the control of roadside litter <br /> involving commitments by private businesses and civic organizations <br /> for the collection of litter on designated sections of city <br /> streets. <br /> PART 2. That the City Manager, Larry D. Gilley, is hereby <br /> authorized to execute agreements with private businesses and civic <br /> organizations for participation in the "Adopt-A-Street" program, in <br /> the form attached to this resolution. <br /> PART 3.
