52 ORDINANCE 1988-4 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COfJNCI L OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 5-16 OF DIVISION I OF ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 5 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY TO ADOPT THE 1985 EDITION OF THE STANDARD BUILDING CODE AND THE 1986 REVISIONS THERETO, AMENDING SAID 1985 EDITION OF SUCH STANDARD BUILDING CODE BY AMENDING SECTIONS 5-22 THROUGH 5-29 AND ADDING SECTIONS 5-30 THROUGH 5-42 TO DIVISION 2 OF SAID ARTICLE OF SAID CHAPTER OF SAID CODE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Section 5-16 of Division 1 of Article II of Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances of said City is hereby amended to read as follows: CHAPTER 5 BUI LDI NGS AND BUI LDI NG REGU LATIONS ARTICLE II. BUILDING CODE DI VI SION 1. GENERALLY Sec. 5-16. Adopted. There is hereby adopted by the city for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations governing the construction, alteration, removal, demolition, equipment, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of buildings and structures, including permits and penalties, that certain building code known as the Standard Building Code, being particularly the 1985 edition, published by the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc., 900 Montclair Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35213-1206, and the 1986 revisions thereto, and as hereafter amended, save and except such portions as are hereafter modified or amended, a copy of which Code and revisions thereto have been and are now filed in the office of the city secretary of the City of San Marcos, and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out full length herein, and from and after the effective date of this ordinance, the provisions thereof shall be controlling in the construction of all buildings and other structures contained within the corporate limits of the city, subject to the laws of the State of Texas. SECTION 2. That Sections 5-22 through 5-29 and 5-30 through 5-42 of Division 2 of Article II of Chapter 5 of the Code of Ordinances of said City are hereby amended and added, respectively, to read as fo llows : Chapter 5 BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS DI VI SION 2.
