"\ ~UNCIL MEMBER, PLACE FOUR~ A SCHOOL DISTRICT IPARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBER, PLACE FIVE~ A SCHOOL ~STRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBER, PLACE SIX; A ~HOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBER, PLACE CEVEN ~ AND, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING ~ENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF SAID CITY~ MAKING £;ROVISIONS FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION AND ~HER PROVISIONS INCIDENT TO THE PURPOSES OF THIS ORDINANCE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That, in accordance with the provisions of Articles III, V, and XII of the Charter of the city of San Marcos and the laws of the State of Texas, so far as same may be applicable, a special and joint general election by the city of San Marcos, Texas and the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District shall be held and the same lS ordered and directed to be held, at the various polling places and election precincts in the city of San Marcos, Texas, as hereinafter designated, on the 7th day of April, 1984, from the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at which election there shall be elected by the qualified voters of the City of San ~1arcos, from the City at large, a Mayor, for a term of two years, a City Council Member for Place Three and a City Council Member for Place Four, for terms of three years each. By the qualified voters of the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District, there shall be elected a School District Board of Trustees Member, Place Five, a School District Board of Trustees Member, Place Six and a School District Board of Trustees Member, Place Seven, for terms of three years each, and at which election there shall be submitted to the resident qualified voters of said City amendments to the City Charter. SECTION 2. That the following propositions to amend the City Charter shall be submitted to the resident qualified voters of the City of San Marcos, Texas on said date for their action thereon: Proposition No. 1 FOR/AGAINST Amend the portion of Section 2.03 regarding public hearings and notice thereof for annexations and regarding the extension of utilities to such areas and procedures therefor to conform to current state law. Proposition No. 2 FOR/AGAINST Add Section 2.04 to provide for limited purpose annexation. proposition No. 3 FOR/AGAINST Amend Section 3.01(b) to delete that portion of said section beginning with the phrase "Upon adoption of this Charter amendment" to the end of that section, all of such deleted portion concerning the terms of years of council members when they were originally elected and the same being now legally unnecessary to the City Charter.
