YOR~ A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE THREE~A CITY <br /> .......... <br /> "\ ~UNCIL MEMBER, PLACE FOUR~ A SCHOOL DISTRICT <br /> IPARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBER, PLACE FIVE~ A SCHOOL <br /> ~STRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBER, PLACE SIX; A <br /> ~HOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBER, PLACE <br /> CEVEN ~ AND, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING <br /> ~ENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF SAID CITY~ MAKING <br /> £;ROVISIONS FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION AND <br /> ~HER PROVISIONS INCIDENT TO THE PURPOSES OF <br /> THIS ORDINANCE AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> SECTION 1. That, in accordance with the provisions of <br /> Articles III, V, and XII of the Charter of the city of San <br /> Marcos and the laws of the State of Texas, so far as same may <br /> be applicable, a special and joint general election by the <br /> city of San Marcos, Texas and the San Marcos Consolidated <br /> Independent School District shall be held and the same lS <br /> ordered and directed to be held, at the various polling <br /> places and election precincts in the city of San Marcos, <br /> Texas, as hereinafter designated, on the 7th day of April, <br /> 1984, from the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at which <br /> election there shall be elected by the qualified voters of <br /> the City of San ~1arcos, from the City at large, a Mayor, for <br /> a term of two years, a City Council Member for Place Three <br /> and a City Council Member for Place Four, for terms of three <br /> years each. By the qualified voters of the San Marcos <br /> Consolidated Independent School District, there shall be <br /> elected a School District Board of Trustees Member, Place <br /> Five, a School District Board of Trustees Member, Place Six <br /> and a School District Board of Trustees Member, Place Seven, <br /> for terms of three years each, and at which election there <br /> shall be submitted to the resident qualified voters of said <br /> City amendments to the City Charter. <br /> SECTION 2. That the following propositions to amend the <br /> City Charter shall be submitted to the resident qualified <br /> voters of the City of San Marcos, Texas on said date for <br /> their action thereon: <br /> Proposition No. 1 <br /> FOR/AGAINST Amend the portion of Section 2.03 <br /> regarding public hearings and notice <br /> thereof for annexations and regarding the <br /> extension of utilities to such areas and <br /> procedures therefor to conform to current <br /> state law. <br /> Proposition No. 2 <br /> FOR/AGAINST Add Section 2.04 to provide for limited <br /> purpose annexation. <br /> proposition No. 3 <br /> FOR/AGAINST Amend Section 3.01(b) to delete that <br /> portion of said section beginning with <br /> the phrase "Upon adoption of this Charter <br /> amendment" to the end of that section, <br /> all of such deleted portion concerning <br /> the terms of years of council members <br /> when they were originally elected and the <br /> same being now legally unnecessary to the <br /> City Charter. <br />
