<br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
<br /> OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND
<br /> DECLARING RESULTS OF THE REGULAR CITY ELECTION
<br /> HELD APRIL 2, 1983, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECT-
<br /> ING A COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE ONE; COUNCIL MEMBER,
<br /> PLACE TWO; COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE FOUR; APPROVING
<br /> OR REJECTING A RESOLUTION MANDATING THAT THE
<br /> CITY COUNCIL TAKE ACTION IN SUPPORT OF THE
<br /> PROPOSAL FOR A BILATERAL NUCLEAR WEAPONS FREEZE
<br /> AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas,
<br /> ordered a regular city election on April 2, 1983 for the pur-
<br /> pose of electing a Council Member, Place One; Council Member,
<br /> Place Two and Council Member, ~lace Ëour and approving or
<br /> rejecting a resolution mandating that the City Council take
<br /> action in support of the proposal for a bilateral nuclear
<br /> weapons freeze, by ordinances duly adopted on February 14, 1983,
<br /> and,
<br /> WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly published in the
<br /> San Marcos Daily Record on March 20, 1983, and,
<br /> WHEREAS, copies of said notice were duly posted at each
<br /> city election precinct polling place prior to said election; and,
<br /> WHEREAS, said election was duly and legally held on the
<br /> 2nd day of April, 1983, in conformity with the election laws
<br /> of the State of Texas, and the results of said election have been
<br /> certified and returned by the proper judges and clerks thereof;
<br /> and,
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texa s ,
<br /> with the following members present: Emmie Craddock, Mayor, Karl
<br /> Brown, Mayor Pro Tem, Gerald Farr, John A.Kreczmer, Jaime Moore
<br /> and Tess Norris Council Members; has today considered the returns
<br /> of said regular city election held on the 2nd day of April, 1983;
<br /> and,
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears to the Council, and the Council so finds,
<br /> that the said election was in all respects lawfully held; and,
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears to the Council, and the Council so finds,
<br /> that the tabulation of the results of said election is correct;
<br /> now, therefore,
<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS,
<br /> TEXAS:
<br /> SECTION 1. That the tabulation of votes cast in the regular
<br /> city election held on April 2, 1983 for the purpose of electing
<br /> a Council Member, Place One;- Council Member, Place Two; Council
<br /> Member, Place Four and approving or rejecting a resolution mandating
<br /> that the City Council take action in support of the proposal for
<br /> a bilateral nuclear weapons freeze made and certified to by the Gity
<br /> Secretary of the City of San Marcos, a copy of which is attached
<br /> hereto and made a part hereof, be, and the same is hereby, adopted
<br /> as the official tabulation of the votes cast at said election
<br /> and that said tabulation be filed and recorded in the official
<br /> records of the City of San Marcos as the official canvass of said
<br /> election.
<br /> SECTION 2. That the said official canvass of the returns
<br /> of said election reflects the following:

<br /> person was duly elected Council Member, Place
<br /> One of the City of San Marcos:
