<br />176. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />TEXAS, JANUARY 5, 2006 <br /> <br />OF THE <br />MARCOS, <br /> <br />PRESENT <br /> <br />Mayor <br />Mayor Pro-Tern <br />Deputy Mayor Pro-Tern <br />Council Members <br /> <br />Susan Narvaiz <br />John Diaz <br />Daniel Guerrero <br />John Thomaides <br />Ed Mihalkanin <br />Chris Jones <br />Gaylord Bose <br /> <br />City Manager <br />City Clerk <br />City Attorney <br />Director of Administration <br />Director of Planning and Dev Services <br /> <br />Dan O'Leary <br />Janis K Womack <br />Mark Taylor <br />Collette Jamison <br />Carol Barrett <br /> <br />Also Present Margie Moore, Rosemary Suniga, Gloria Salazar, Shelley <br />Goodwin and others <br /> <br />II Mayor Narvaiz called the meeting to order at 6 00 P m <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the interviewing of candidates for Economic <br />Development Director She stated Margie Moore will introduce each <br />Candidate to the Council, and then the Candidate will be given 3 minutes to <br />summarize his/her own introduction She stated the Council will be <br />allotted one minute for a question to each Candidate and up to two minutes <br />for the Candidate to respond, and if time permitted, a second round of <br />questions from the Council with the same time allotments She also stated <br />the Candidate will then be given a three minute summary period to state why <br />he/she would make the best Candidate for the job Mayor Narvaiz stated at <br />the end of all interviews, the Council will be given a slip of paper with <br />the names of the Candidates listed Each Council Member will silently rank <br />the Candidates from 1-3 with the top or best Candidate rated with a 1 <br />The Council Members will pass their rankings to the City Manager, and he <br />will read aloud each Council Member's rankings The Council will recess <br />and the City Manager will tabulate the overall rankings Mayor Narvaiz <br />stated each Council Member will get to ask two questions, and either choose <br />two from the list of questions provided in the packet, or provide a <br />different question in writing She asked the Council to indicate their <br />questions of the Candidates Mr Bose's first question, "In your opinion, <br />I what are the major challenges facing economic development in San Marcos? <br />As the Economic Development Director, how would you deal with those <br />challenges?"
