ORDINANCE NO. 2016-13 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING DIVISION 10, CEMETERY COMMISSION, OF CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 3 OF THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE TO CONVERT THE CEMETERY COMMISSION TO A COUNCIL APPOINTED COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT OM-MAIIIED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOJ SECTION 1. Division 10, Cemetery Commission, of Chapter 2, Article 3 of the San Marcos City Code is hereby amended to read as follows (Added text is indicated by underlining; indicates deleted text): DIVISION 10. CEMETERY COMMISSION Sec. 2.251. Established; memberships and terms. (a) The cemetery commission is established. (b) The commission will consist of seven members who will be appointed by the direetef ofpa -ks and r-eer-eation city council. (c) The terms of office of members will be staggered. The terms of three members will expire in odd - numbered years, and the other four terms will expire in even - numbered years. Terms will be for two years. Sec. 2.252. Purpose. The purpose of the cemetery commission is to act as a liaison between the city staff and citizens to determine citizen expectation and give recommendations to the city staff-council for budget, maintenance, projects and special programs at the cemetery based on these expectations. Sec. 2.253. Responsibilities. The cemetery commission will: (1) Provide a yearly report to the city council on cemetery progress, programs, needs and other matters of concern; (2) Plan special projects at the cemetery, such as historical or genealogy searches and the opening of new sections;
