ORDINANCE NO. 2016-13 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING DIVISION 10, CEMETERY <br />COMMISSION, OF CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 3 OF THE SAN MARCOS <br />CITY CODE TO CONVERT THE CEMETERY COMMISSION TO A <br />COUNCIL APPOINTED COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL <br />OF ANY CONFLICTING PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />BE IT OM-MAIIIED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOJ <br />SECTION 1. Division 10, Cemetery Commission, of Chapter 2, Article 3 of the San <br />Marcos City Code is hereby amended to read as follows (Added text is indicated by underlining; <br />indicates deleted text): <br />DIVISION 10. CEMETERY COMMISSION <br />Sec. 2.251. Established; memberships and terms. <br />(a) The cemetery commission is established. <br />(b) The commission will consist of seven members who will be appointed by the <br />direetef ofpa -ks and r-eer-eation city council. <br />(c) The terms of office of members will be staggered. The terms of three members <br />will expire in odd - numbered years, and the other four terms will expire in even - numbered <br />years. Terms will be for two years. <br />Sec. 2.252. Purpose. <br />The purpose of the cemetery commission is to act as a liaison between the city staff <br />and citizens to determine citizen expectation and give recommendations to the city staff-council <br />for budget, maintenance, projects and special programs at the cemetery based on these <br />expectations. <br />Sec. 2.253. Responsibilities. <br />The cemetery commission will: <br />(1) Provide a yearly report to the city council on cemetery progress, programs, <br />needs and other matters of concern; <br />(2) Plan special projects at the cemetery, such as historical or genealogy <br />searches and the opening of new sections; <br />
