Troy Swift, Turkey Hollow,
stated he has lived in San Marcos for 18 years and would like to see recycling continue. He stated
SWT used to provide these services to the city and now the Green Guys are doing a great job
with more solid waste. He would like to see the citizens be vocal and express their support for
the Green Guy's service. Roger Morgan, Willow Creek, stated he is against the annexation of
parts of Willow Creek. He stated there is no access into the area unless you go through other
County subdivisions. He stated the City would have to develop a road through Purgatory Creek
to get directly into the proposed area. Mr. Morgan felt a 20% tax increase would not provide for
services. He stated there would be no staff increase in the Police Department and the County Fire
Department was actually closer than the City Fire Department. He reconfirmed the water services
would be the same; however, the wastewater septic system would not change. He also
questioned why Section 9 of Willow Creek was not being annexed. Mr. Morgan urged the
Council to vote no on the proposed annexation. Ross Doane, Willow Creek, Section 2, stated
this annexation did not make sense and would not be fair to the residence of this area. He stated
the annexation needs to be a logical geographical path. Dick Sorrell, stated he did not live in this
area, but he builds homes in this area. He stated he did not object to the annexation, but he
thought it did not make sense to annex certain sections and not others. David Fahler stated he has
been involved in the recycling effort and did not know where people were going to take their
recyclables when Green Guys closes down. He stated it would be a safer environment to continue
the services of Green Guys and urged the City to help them to continue. Kyle Hahn stated he felt
a there is a need to have drop off service and hoped the City would initiate an agreement with the
County to continue services. Ollie Maier stated he started recycling at SWT in the 70's and it was
taken over by Mr. Hahn in 1995. He stated November 15 was Texas Recycle Day and questioned
what the citizens would do if the center closed. Norman Whalen, Willow Creek, Section 8, stated
* Mr. Hernandez not present at this meeting.
