Call To Order <br /> With a quorum present,the regular meeting of the San Marcos City Council <br /> was called to order by Mayor Thomaides at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, <br /> 2017 in the City Council Chambers, 630 E. Hopkins, San Marcos,Texas 78666. <br /> II. Roll Call <br /> Present: 7- Mayor John Thomaides, Council Member Saul Gonzales, Mayor Pro-Tem Jane <br /> Hughson, Council Member Melissa Derrick, Council Member Scott Gregson, <br /> Council Member Ed Mihalkanin and Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Lisa Prewitt <br /> III. Invocation <br /> A moment of silence was observed. <br /> IV. Pledges Of Allegiance - United States And Texas <br /> Tessa Rivera,a Pre-K student from Texas Preparatory School led the assembly <br /> in the Pledges of Allegiance <br /> 5:30PM PRESENTATIONS <br /> 1. Receive presentations from Strategic Government Resources (SGR) and Waters & <br /> Company, and hold discussion regarding the use of an executive search firm for the <br /> City Manager position, and provide direction to Staff. <br /> Ron Holifield, CEO Strategic Government Resources (SGR), introduced <br /> himself and explained how his firm provided skills related to social media that <br /> other firms may not in regards to searching for and reaching out to potential <br /> candidates. He explained how they are high profile and the 3rd largest in the <br /> nation and how they have a broad reach all across the United States. He stated <br /> that they are very aggressive in the vetting process and how he wants to make <br /> sure that they find the right fit. They do not want the council to be surprised. <br /> It is obvious that San Marcos is more aggressive in community engagement <br /> and he wants to make sure that the Community, Council and Staff are all <br /> engaged in the process. <br /> City of San Marcos Page 1 <br />
