Servs. Ron Patterson <br /> Director of Public Works Richard Mendoza <br /> Police Chief Steve Griffith <br />Also Present: Terry Hobby, Chris Medici, Collette Jamison, Sherri <br />Russell, Tom Wassenich, Dianne Wassenich, Craig Corbin, Rodney <br />Vanoudekerke, Carol Coughlin, Jeff Kester, Rolland Hesalroad, Dan Praver, <br />Charles Swart, John Boswell, Johnnie Armstead, Diana Carbajal, Kelley <br />Franks, Murlin Evans, Dave Newman and others. <br />Mayor Chiu called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the citizen comment period. (1) Hill Rylander, Vice <br />Chair of the Historic Preservation Commission, stated the amendments to <br />the Historic Preservation Ordinance would provide opportunity to restore <br />buildings, provide housing, will encourage economic growth, will bring <br />pride to San Marcos and will provide historic preservation and save our <br />heritage. (2) Chris Medici stated the tax incentives offered in the <br />Historic Preservation Ordinance are not about preserving, but offering a <br />handout and special treatment to a few. Home beautification should be to <br />all and provide fairness to all. (3) Craig Corbin stated the Youth Summit <br />was attended by 3000 in 1999 and will be held in San Marcos again on March <br />24 at City Park and the Fish Hatchery Building. Over fifty agencies will <br />be participating in this event, and" arts" will be the theme. Mr. Corbin <br />stated the City is being asked to help with the event and requested <br />$5,520.00. (4) Joe Schneider stated he would like Item 16 regarding <br />* Ms. Huffman not present at this meeting. <br />
