SAIU'X IEoS City of San Marcos <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Q <br />City Council <br />Tuesday, April 5, 2022 6:00 PM City Council Chambers <br />630 E. Hopkins <br />I. Call To Order <br />With a quorum present, the regular meeting of the San Marcos City Council <br />was called in order by Mayor Hughson at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2022. <br />This meeting was held in-person and online <br />Present: 7- Mayor Jane Hughson, Council Member Maxfield Baker, Council Member Saul <br />Gonzales, Mayor Pro Tem Shane Scott, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Alyssa Garza, <br />Council Member Jude Prather and Council Member Mark Gleason <br />111. Invocation <br />A moment of silence was observed <br />IV. Pledges of Allegiance - United States and Texas <br />Council Member Gonzales, led the assembly in the Pledges of Allegiance. <br />V. 30 Minute Citizen Comment Period <br />Virginia Parker, San Marcos River Foundation representation. She stated the <br />group is thrilled to hear that discussion on flood mitigation and watershed <br />protection for the Blanco and San Marcos Rivers is tonight. She stated the <br />Edwards Aquifer provides clean drinking water for over 2 million people. Ms. <br />Parker stated we need to protect the sensitive recharge zone before it's densely <br />developed and paved. She mentioned we are also protecting the aquifer but <br />also mitigating flood risk by allowing the rainwater to soak into the ground <br />instead of flowing downhill adding to the expensive and devastating flood <br />issues. The San Marcos River Foundation encourages the council to protect the <br />aquifer and San Marcos River. <br />Pat Fernandez, spoke regarding items #17 and #19,,She stated she is a real <br />estate broker and property manager for 22 years.
