Wyatt, <br />Sr., Catherine Johnson, Marvin Kaderli, George Dimmick, Donna <br />Phillips, Herman Caviel, Tommy Ragsdale, Terry Roberts, Charles <br />Stone, Rocky Prado, Chris Bishop, Jim Pendergast, Dawn Smith, <br />David Munger, Shirley Wickersham, Joel Bernard, and others. <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held Monday, February 19, 1979 <br />were approved on motion of Mr. Hyatt and second of Mr. Hansen. <br />Mr. Breihan requested that an item discussed at that meeting, <br />the sale of property in the Urban Renewal area, be placed on the <br />next week's agenda. Mr. Breihan restated his concern that <br />property should not be sold in that area until questions regard- <br />ing lot size and width of streets had been answered. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a public hearing to consider a request for the <br />rezoning of a 0.74 acre tract in T. J. Chambers Survey, located <br />on Lamar Avenue, from "R-I" (Single Family Residential) to "D" <br />(Multifamily). No objections were presented to the zoning change <br />requested by San Marcos Properties. The Mayor closed t?e hearing <br />and read an ordinance having the following caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING <br />SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGU- <br />LATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE <br />OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED <br />MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE <br />ZONING OF THE 0.74 ACRE TRACT IN T. J. <br />CHAMBERS LEAGUE (MORE FULLY DESCRIBED BY <br />METES AND BOUNDS IN ATTACHED EXHIBIT A), <br />LOCATED ON LAMAR AVENUE, FROM. "R-I" <br />(SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL) TO "D" <br />(MULTIFAMILY) . <br /> <br />Mr. Breihan moved the ordinance be approved on first reading. <br />Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor next introduced for consideration a request by <br />Mr. Alfred Hughes for the rezoning of a 2.5 acre tract in <br />J. M. Veramendi League #1 and a 7.6 acre tract in J. M. Veramendi <br />League #1, both parcels located on Broadway Drive, and zoning <br />changed from "R-l" (Single Family Residential) to "R-2" (Duplex) <br />and "D" (Multifamily) respectively. Mr. Cavazos announced that <br />the applicant had requested the item be postponed and that the <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development still had some <br />questions about the proposed use of the property for construction <br />of subsidized housing units. Mr. Sutton moved consideration of <br />Items 4B and C, zoning changes requested as described above, be <br />tabled. Mr. Breihan seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br />
