Pryatel, Erica <br />Martin, Jerri Martin, Jeff Watkins, Chris Bishop, Bob Barton, and <br />others. <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held Monday, May 7, 1979 were <br />approved on motion of Mr. Sutton and second of Mr. Cavazos. <br /> <br />Mr. James arrived late therefore his vote is not recorded in the <br />next few motions. <br /> <br />County Judge Walter Burnett and Administrator Bill Cunningham <br />came before the City Council with a report on the County sponsored <br />Youth Conservation Corps Program. Mr. Cunningham told the Council <br />that the program would be funded in the amount of $30,000 and would <br />provide work for youths between the ages of 15 and 18 for a nine <br />week program, about one-half of which time would be spent on City <br />property. Mr. Hyatt moved to authorize City participation in the <br />program. Mr. Breihan seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read an ordinance having the following caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPOINTING A <br />BOARD OF EQUALIZATION; FIXING THE TIME <br />OF THE BOARD'S FIRST MEETING; AND DECLAR- <br />ING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr. Cavazos moved the ordinance be adopted on emergency. Mr. Hyatt <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. It was noted that <br />only three members were appointed to the five-member Board of <br />Equalization, Mrs. Lou Cole, Mrs. Mary Ann Convis, and Dr. A, A. <br />Grusendorf. Council agreed to amend the ordinance at a later date <br />to appoint the other two members. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced a companion resolution setting the assessment <br />ratio at 70% of market value. Mr. Sutton moved the resolution <br />setting the assessment ratio at 70% of market value be adopted. <br />Mr. Cavazos seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING <br />ACCEPTANCE OF THE COMPLETION OF TENNIS <br />COURTS CONSTRUCTED AT RIO VISTA PARK IN <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: AUTHORIZING FINAL <br />PAYMENT FOR THIS CONSTRUCTION; AND ,., <br />ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />
