33 REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN VJffiCOS, TEXAS, MAY 10, 1976 Present: Mayor Emmie Craddock Councilmen Frank T. Arredondo Ted Breihan Robert L. Cavazos Berry R. James John Hansen Kenneth E. Sutton I City Manager City Attorney City Secretary Director of Finance Director of Public Works James B. Baugh Tom Akins Doriss Hambrick Earl T. Williams William T. Friedrich Also present: W.R. Nelson; Dr. Nilon Tallant; Josephine Mann; Jerry Moore; Mr. and Mrs. Luciano H. Flores; Rita James; Jerri Martin; Terry Roberts; Melissa Millecam; Juan Palomo; Rowe Ray; Gary Bond; and others. The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held April 26 were approved on motion of Mr. Sutton and second of Mr. Hansen. The Minutes of the Special Meeting held May 3 were approved on motion of Mr. Cavazos and second of Mr. Hansen. The Minutes of the Special Meeting held May 10, 1976 were approved on motion of Mr. Cavazos and second of Mr. Hansen with Councilmen Arredondo and Breihan ab~,tain- ing. I The Oath of Office was administered to Councilman-elect Berry R. James by the City Attorney. Councilman Sutton nominated Dr. Emmie Craddock to serve as Mayor for a third term. Mr. Arredondo moved the nominations cease. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: Breihan, Cavazos, James, Hansen, Sutton, Arredondo NAY: None ABSTAIN: Craddock. Mr. Hansen moved Dr. Craddock be elected Mayor. Mr. James seconded the moticn. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: Cavazos, James, Hansen, Sutton, Arredondo, Breihan NAY: None ABSTAIN: Craddock. Mr. Arredondo nominated Councilman John Hansen to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore.. Mr. Cavazos moved the nominations cease and Mr. Hansen be elected by accl8Jl1ation. Mr. James seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recordecl: AYE: Craddock, James, Sutton, Arredondo, Cavazos NAY: Breihan ABSTAIN: Hansen. I The Mayor read an Ordinance, the caption of which is as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE III, DIVISION 1 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS BY AMENDING SECTION 2-31 SO AS TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF AUTHORIZED POSITIONS FOR POLICE SERGEANT FROM SIX IN NUMBER TO FIVE IN NUMBER. \.- Mr. Hansen moved approval of the Ordinance on first reading.
