REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, MAY 24, 1971 RECESSED EXECUTIVE MEETING,MAY 27, 1971 Present: Mayor Herbert A. Yarbrough, jr. Councilmen: Guillermo De La Rosa Frances D. Emery Eddy A. Etheredge Luciano H. Flores Ross King Hollis W. Smith I Acting City Manager City Secretary Warren G. Leddick Dorothy O. Worrel~ Visitors: Xen Sloan, David ~barra, Jack Major, Jerri Martin, Lanny Cravy, Dr. David Tauch The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7: 30 p.m. 'Councilman King gave the Invocation. Minutes of the May ,10, 1971 regular meeting we..e approved as presented, on motion of Mr. Flores and second of Mr . Smith. I The Mayor introduced an ordinance annexing a 16-acre tract owned by Southwestern Medic'al Centers, I nc. A copy is attached. Mr. King moved adoption of the annexation ordinance on third reading. Mrs. Emery seconded th~~otion and on rollcall, the following vote was recorded: NAY: None AYE: DeLaRosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, Ki'ng, Smith, Yarbrough Jhe Mayor declared the ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted. The Mayor introduced an ordinance authorizing 'publication of notice of proposed annexation of certain areas in Dluebonnet Hills and Forest Hills. Mr. Flores moved adoption of the o,rdinance as an emergency measure, the public hearing to be set at 6: 00 p. m., June 14, 1971. Mr. DeLaRosa sec.onded the motion and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: NAY: None AYE: DeLaRosa, Emery, Etheredge, Floresi 'King, Smith, Yarbrough The Mayor declared the ordinance Passed~ Approved and Adopted. Mr .Smi th mov~d adoption of the orDinance as an emergency meas,ure, the public hearing to be set at 6:00 p.m,:.,June 14,1971. Mr. Flo~es seconded the motion ,Councilman Etheredge CfHestioned the reason the Planning & Zoning Commission had recommended ar- bitrary 'annexation of the Hardeman-Smith property. He said he had heard it was because'neighbo..s objected to the type of tenant in the houses, and wanted it annexed so it would be under City police jurisdiction.
