<br />The Mayor opened the Public Hearing at 5: 30 p.m. Mr. "Smi th asked
<br />Jim T. Brown, Executive' Director of, the Urban Renewal Agency to
<br />present Project Tex. A-6, and expl<;lin the need for a public ,hearing
<br />on the first section, known locally as "The River Project".
<br />
<br />Mr. B~own outiined th~first ~ear's workload, which would include
<br />the opening of Edward Gary Street, C.M. Allen. Parkway and the Houston
<br />Road (Cheatham Street) Bridge. Other areas~iscussed were the prop-
<br />erties given priorityf()r acquisition, loans. andgrant<;;, aVi'lilable to
<br />the persons' to be reloca'ted, and plans for the relocation and re-
<br />habilitation of the people in the area.

<br />A question and answer session with the Council followed, with Mr.
<br />Brown explaining in detail certain points of the program.

<br />Am.ng the visitors who spoke, or asked questions, ~ere Frank Gonzales;
<br />CharlesW. Brewer; Richard W. Burns, counsel for several families
<br />who own property in the Rio Vista area; Mrs. James Cummings; and
<br />Mr. Ha~din Moo~e.

<br />Arthur Troilo, counsel for the Urban Renewal Agency, answered'
<br />questions which involved legal matters.

<br />closed the Public Hearing and announced a short recess.

<br />The Council reconvened at 7:00 p.m. The Mayor introduced a
