<br />REGULAR MEETING APRIL 18, 1956 <br /> <br />27~ <br /> <br />On this, the 18th day of April, 1956, at 2:00 P.M., the City Council of the <br />City of S~n Marcos, Texas, met in a regular meeting at the City Hall in San Marcos, <br />with the fol1owing members present and participating: <br /> <br />Frank E. Diettarich, Mayor <br />Calvin M. Allen, Alderman <br />S. R. Beecroft, Alderman <br />W. M. Davis, Alderman <br />Herman Korff, Alderman <br />B. D. Hillburn, Ald~rman <br /> <br />Others Present: <br /> <br />Mrs. Roland Manske The High School Council H~dson Bales <br />u. L. Haynes Francis Mercer Representatives from <br />fire equipment companies. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />W. G. Barbee <br /> <br />Ann 2i emke <br /> <br />A quorum being present, Mayor Dietterich called the meeting to order and <br />the following transpired: <br /> <br />The bids on two Hre trucks were opened by Ernest Morgan, City Attorney, <br />and read aloud to the Council. They were as follows: <br /> <br />American Fire Apparatus C04 <br />Main Street Road <br />~attle Creek, Michigan <br /> <br />Ericlosed check (certified) i.n the amount of $1,000.00 <br />This bid includes two (2) Fire Engines of identical type constructio~ <br />and materials. $ 20,500.00 <br /> <br />Howe Fire Apparatus Company - Bid rejected as no bid check or bond was <br />enclosed. <br /> <br />Simms Fire Equipment Company <br />San Antonio, Texas <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Enclosed Cashiers Check in amount of $898.75 covering equipment <br />Two each 500 Gallon per minute Combination Pumper & Boost~r Trucks <br />$ 17,974.50 <br />Enclosed 6 bids on Chassis and left choice to Council <br />1956 Chev. 6503 2 ton 261 ci V-8 <br />(Sc:rutchin Motor Co. ,San Marcos ~ T2x.) <br />1956 Studebaker 2 ton 156 H.P. <br />(Ke,ccheville Motor Co.,San M~Icos,Tex.) <br />1956 Dodge 2 ton V-8 <br />(Allen Motor Co., San Marcos, Texas) <br />1956 International 5-166 2 ton 140 H,P. <br />1956 International S-176 2~ ton 150 H.P. <br />(San Marcos Equip. V-8 <br />(S2n Ma~cos - Juck Hughes Motors) <br /> <br />2,114.28 <br /> <br />Peter Pirsch & Sons Co. - Bid rojec'ced as no bid check o:-c Land WZ;5 <br />enclosed. <br /> <br />After review or'~hese bids, Alderman H~llburn m~de a motion that the <br />two bids be referred t8 the Fire Department for further review a~d that th~ <br />Fire Jcpal~tment then make a written recommendation to the Council as to the5 l' <br />decision. Alderman Allen seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resuJ.ted <br />uf1Jnimous.1y ir. f{j'lOT of the motion. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Bids were then opened on a 1954 Chevrolet Police Car which the City has <br />for sale. They wore as follows: <br /> <br />Connel' Motors <br />Scr~tchin Motors <br />Allen Motor Co. <br />J. Eo Geer - <br />Motor Mart <br /> <br />$ 701. 00 <br />740.00 <br />700.00 <br />685.00 <br /> <br />After a review of tho bids, Alderman Hillburn made a motion that the <br />Chevrolet be sold to Scrutchin Motor Company as high bidder for $740.00. - Alderman <br />Korff seco~ded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor <br />of the motion~ as follows: <br />Alderman Korff - Yes <br />Alderman Hillburn - Yes <br />!\lderman PJlen - Yes <br />Alderman Davis - Yes <br />Alderman Beecroft did not vote. <br />
