REGULAR MEETING APRIL 18, 1956 27~ On this, the 18th day of April, 1956, at 2:00 P.M., the City Council of the City of S~n Marcos, Texas, met in a regular meeting at the City Hall in San Marcos, with the fol1owing members present and participating: Frank E. Diettarich, Mayor Calvin M. Allen, Alderman S. R. Beecroft, Alderman W. M. Davis, Alderman Herman Korff, Alderman B. D. Hillburn, Ald~rman Others Present: Mrs. Roland Manske The High School Council H~dson Bales u. L. Haynes Francis Mercer Representatives from fire equipment companies. I W. G. Barbee Ann 2i emke A quorum being present, Mayor Dietterich called the meeting to order and the following transpired: The bids on two Hre trucks were opened by Ernest Morgan, City Attorney, and read aloud to the Council. They were as follows: American Fire Apparatus C04 Main Street Road ~attle Creek, Michigan Ericlosed check (certified) i.n the amount of $1,000.00 This bid includes two (2) Fire Engines of identical type constructio~ and materials. $ 20,500.00 Howe Fire Apparatus Company - Bid rejected as no bid check or bond was enclosed. Simms Fire Equipment Company San Antonio, Texas I Enclosed Cashiers Check in amount of $898.75 covering equipment Two each 500 Gallon per minute Combination Pumper & Boost~r Trucks $ 17,974.50 Enclosed 6 bids on Chassis and left choice to Council 1956 Chev. 6503 2 ton 261 ci V-8 (Sc:rutchin Motor Co. ,San Marcos ~ T2x.) 1956 Studebaker 2 ton 156 H.P. After review or'~hese bids, Alderman H~llburn m~de a motion that the two bids be referred t8 the Fire Department for further review a~d that th~ Fire Jcpal~tment then make a written recommendation to the Council as to the5 l' decision. Alderman Allen seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resuJ.ted uf1Jnimous.1y ir. f{j'lOT of the motion. I Bids were then opened on a 1954 Chevrolet Police Car which the City has for sale. They wore as follows: Connel' Motors Scr~tchin Motors Allen Motor Co. J. Eo Geer - Motor Mart $ 701. 00 740.00 700.00 685.00 After a review of tho bids, Alderman Hillburn made a motion that the Chevrolet be sold to Scrutchin Motor Company as high bidder for $740.00. - Alderman Korff seco~ded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion~ as follows: Alderman Korff - Yes Alderman Hillburn - Yes !\lderman PJlen - Yes Alderman Davis - Yes Alderman Beecroft did not vote.
